Drivechain is literally the upgrade that allows for secure scaling and building on layer 2
Only a fucking idiot SCAMMER would want SIDECHAINS
We do want it as a community, literally every bitcoin in layer 2s right now is a testament to that fact.
From what I can tell - Drivechain might make miners more money and we don't know what they'll do with it.... Drivechains enable other things to be built on Bitcoin, that could be bad.... Drivechains are too complex because I am not a developer therefore they are scary and bad.
But it honestly is starting to seem more like subconscious protection of the LN related investments or some weird fears of the unknown with regards to the SEC claiming any namable entity who builds anything new on the protocol automatically renders it a security idk...
I don't see the drivechain critics talk bad about CTV or recursive covenants (in regards to complexity and potential for unforseen consequences...)
Rootstock is a merge mined layer 2 that supplies miners with more txn fees than LN, increasing the BTC security budget. It has about 2/3rds the amount of BTC on it as are in LN channels. It's been around for almost 6 years and allows people in countries where it is hard to access the USD to save in Bitcoin backed stablecoins. So yeah, it's in the room
The more I read into BIP-300 the more I like it. It seems like the perfect scaling solution for mass adoption. With the added benefits of a simple scaling approach through trustless side chains, increased revenue for bitcoin miners and enabling end-2-end encrypted private transactions.
Look I have nothing against Lightning Network. Zaps are very cool but does it mathematically scale to 8 billion users (Apparently, it does not). Also, 99% of LN users are still using custodial LN wallets despite all the awareness and education hold your own keys. Oboarding users to non-custodial wallets is painful because you have open channels and have custodial ln wallet as backup if transaction fails. Privacy on LN is extremely difficult unless you just HODL your coins and never transact with anyone. BIP-300 Drivechains seem like a simple approach to push for non-custodial wallet mass adoption and bring privacy to bitcoin.
Here is a list of bitcoiners who would like to see BIP-300 implemented. Worth taking a look e.g. The Nostr creator nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 is a supporter:

The more people educate themselves on this and talk about #BIP300. The more likely it will be implemented.
The last major upgrade was #Taproot and all that did was create the Ordinals protocol and BRC-20 tokens 😂. If BIP300 was implemented it would be the last change needed to be made to bitcoin.
That is my lightning rant over.
Sidechains with "consensus adjacent" subnets are the best way to scale digitally into the decentralized information web and the only way to scale bitcoin physically outside of the earth-moon system.
