-THE ISLAND LIFE-

"The noble type of man experiences itself as determining values; it does not need approval; it judges, 'what is injurious to me is injurious in itself'; it knows itself to be that which first accords honor to things; it is value-creating."

7 lessons from Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche:

1. Challenge Conventional Morality

Nietzsche argues that traditional moral values are often based on herd mentality. He encourages readers to question and challenge societal norms, suggesting that what is deemed "good" or "evil" is often subjective and influenced by cultural context.

2. Embrace Individualism

A central theme in Nietzsche's work is the importance of individualism. He advocates for the pursuit of personal values and beliefs rather than conforming to the expectations of society, promoting the idea that true greatness comes from self-definition.

3. Recognize the Will to Power

Nietzsche introduces the concept of the will to power, which he sees as a fundamental driving force in humans. This idea suggests that individuals are motivated by a desire to assert and enhance their own power and influence, which can lead to personal growth and creativity.

4. Suffering as a Path to Growth

Nietzsche posits that suffering is an inherent part of life and should not be avoided. Instead, he encourages embracing suffering as a means of personal development and a catalyst for achieving greatness.

5. Critique of Dogmatism

The philosopher critiques dogmatic thinking, arguing that rigid adherence to beliefs stifles creativity and progress. He promotes intellectual flexibility and the importance of questioning established truths to foster deeper understanding.

6. The Role of the Philosopher

Nietzsche sees the philosopher as a creator of values rather than a mere interpreter of existing ones. He believes that philosophers should actively shape meaning and purpose, challenging the status quo and inspiring others to think critically.

7. The Importance of Perspective

Nietzsche emphasizes that perspective shapes our understanding of truth. He argues that there are no absolute truths; instead, different viewpoints can lead to varied interpretations of reality. This lesson encourages openness to diverse perspectives and the recognition of the complexity of human experience.

These lessons encourage readers to think critically about morality, individuality, and the nature of truth, promoting a more nuanced understanding of life and human behavior.

Great summary post πŸ‘Œ

I'd like to add and recommend this very good BBC documentary about Nietzsche's life. It perfectly ties in his work with the main stages in his life. I always like to argue that because Nietzsche didn't find an opening for non-dogmatic spirituality (like Herman Hesse with Eastern philosophy), he eventually overchallenged himself with creating a 'modern morality' for mankind.

Merry Christmas Nostr ... let's celebrate the birthday of an awakened state of being πŸ’«

Being awakened doesn't mean there are no 'negative' feelings anymore. It means being aware of bodily sensations and their related feelings at all times. And then lovingly look at them and the world around from a blissful higher spot πŸ™πŸŒΏ

That's a great summary of this idea about the deep ancient spiritual meaning of the symbolism around Christmas and the winter solstice πŸ™

THIS is absolutely gorgeous Greek music by French/Greek artist DafnΓ© Kritharas. Her band is πŸ‘Œ Emotions and beauty can't but bubble up when listening to this song! I was looking for something like that which would also inspire me further to study Greek πŸ‡¬πŸ‡· Enjoy!

Haha, yeah, it can be a mess. But you'll figure out your best way over time.

No doubt, pomegranate is a very healthy fruit, and I always found it super special & tasty.

Now, when reading about its particular health benefits, I came across that regular consumption is conducive to lowering inflammation in the body. Particularly, it reduces inflammatory markers IL-6 and C-reactive protein. Exactly the type that the Wim Hof method lowers as well, through breathwork and cold exposure.

So, I dare say that eating pomegranates and practicing the Wim Hof method go very well together πŸ˜‰ Luckily, in Greece the trees grow very well.

Goood mornin' β˜€οΈ I'm a big sucker for pomegranates. But it always took me so long to get all the seeds properly fiddled out. And it held me back eating more. Until ... I found this brilliant technique: Cut the pomegranate in half. Evenly hit the outside skin with a ladle or spoon, gentle enough so it doesn't break. And voilΓ , all seeds will just fall out. Two pomegranates just took me ~5 minutes πŸ’ͺ🏼

So simple, so true. Do your thing. Be patient, grateful ... joyful.

Great! Yeah, the cool thing is that the Pixel C has no flimsy kickstand and a super firm writing / lap surface. + The keyboard is πŸ‘Œ

Ohhh, very nice, please keep us updated on your Daylight!

Absolutely, I still find it genius hardware which I haven't seen equally well implemented in newer Android devices. Apple's magic keyboard is cool. But Apple is Apple.

You got the option to install LineageOS equivalent to Android 13. But they say the camera isn't working then. Android 8 still works for my use case.

I'm flirting with the Daylight computer. But there's no rush.

Who is she? The voice is so pleasant and the speech so fitting, it might as well be AI πŸ˜„ ? Otherwise, bravo πŸ‘‹

Question: I see different notifications in Amethyst on mobile and Primal on desktop. Usually many more with Primal. Does anybody experience the same or know any trick to synchronize the clients better?

Yes, I noticed. It's a different perspective that helped me, and that's why I wanted to mention it as a reply here. Everyone should figure out what works for them.

For me personally, it was freeing to take that extra pressure to excel, from outside and especially from within, away from myself. This way I can thrive more with ease, in freedom. And then I will excel automatically anyway. But in a more loving, integrated way. This allows me too feel unity instead of separation.
