This was such an interesting and somewhat heartbreaking read. We all feel it, we all see it, and we’re told not to believe our lying eyes that life is becoming more expensive. To see the actual math and data broken down proving those feelings true was nice validation and a great reminder why we opt out of fiat and stay humble and stack sats.

With Block’s recent push to encourage Congress to pass a de minimis tax exemption for everyday Bitcoin transactions, it’s crucial to reach out to your representatives and share the message from btcismoney.xyz. However, another vital step is to encourage our family, friends, and neighbors to take action as well. Personally, I’ve noticed that many people I know are unaware of the ease with which they can spend Bitcoin at Square merchants across the country. It’s become significantly simpler to use Bitcoin as money for the everyday person. As cheesy as it may sound, I’ve written this message to my family to motivate them to take action. Whether they choose to do so or not, they’ll be more informed than before and can see tangible social proof that Bitcoin is a legitimate form of money that deserves to be treated as such. Below is what I sent. Take it, tweak it, make it your own, and share it.

ā€œHey family, I hope you can help out your favorite bitcoiner. Recently, Square terminals have enabled bitcoin payments across the country for 4 million merchants, making it easier than ever to pay with bitcoin for goods and services. This is a significant step towards making bitcoin the everyday money I believe it is. However, there’s still one issue: taxes. Currently, regardless of how many sats you spend, whether it’s for a cup of coffee or a bag of groceries, you’re still taxed on capital gains. That’s why there’s a strong push for a de minimis tax exemption for any bitcoin transactions under $600. This is crucial to enable people across the country to not only use bitcoin easily but also feel comfortable doing so knowing that these tax implications are eliminated. If you have time, I encourage you to reach out to your representatives and urge them to pass legislation for this de minimis tax exemption. You can find your representatives’ contact information and a copy-and-paste message here: https://btcismoney.xyz/ā€œ

The link is leading to a ā€œdeceptive website warningā€. I’ve tried multiple browsers and it’s a consistent issue on all of them. May want to double check. Can’t want to check it out once it’s working again!

Can you zap on diVine? #asknostr

I keep checking the Bitcoin map in Cash App like a madman. It’s so cool to see more and more businesses starting to accept Bitcoin each day. Feels surreal nostr:nprofile1qqsgydql3q4ka27d9wnlrmus4tvkrnc8ftc4h8h5fgyln54gl0a7dgspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpxdmhxue69uhkuamr9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshkz7tkdfkx26tvd4urqctvxa4ryur3wsergut9vsch5dmp8pese6nj96

It’s always the ones you most suspect.

I have. We use Umbrel for self-hosting things like media and documents, and Start9 for Bitcoin only. Remote access has been a key factor – Umbrel’s use of Tailscale to access files remotely is super easy. StartOS, on the other hand, only uses Tor, to my knowledge, for remote access, which is slow. That’s why we lean on Umbrel. However, if there is a better way to remotely access StartOS, I’d love to try it.

I think it’s pretty comprehensive and can answer a lot of questions. It also takes it a step further by introducing people to new concepts about how bitcoin positively impacts more than just money.

I have been a fan of it. I use different browsers for different things and arc has become a go to for quick answers that are broken down into digestible pieces of info. Worth a try imo.

My family is starting to outgrow our nostr:nprofile1qqsw5t3us9xs3gmclzjm37hvk2yy6pv9t96utjjttsj794hexc5x79qpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqzrthwden5te0dehhxtnvdakqz6fef5 home server as we use it to self host everything we can. I don’t even think the 4TB option will work. The ability to attach an external hard drive is nice, but it’s our media and photos that eat up space, and apps like Immich and Jellyfin don’t work with the external hard drive. Are there any plans in the future for more than 4 TB of storage or should I look into building my own server setup powered by umbrelOS? #asknostr

Tailscale with Mullvad vpn feels like a cheat code

Introducing my parents to social media was such a mistake. Now with all the AI slop on their feeds, it’s become even worse. They’re glued and believe everything shoved in front of their eyeballs.

Digital privacy is important. Using FOSS and freedom oriented technology is important. Bitcoin is important. However, the most important things in life are a relationship with a Christ, going to church, starting a family, being a part of your local community, and knowing your neighbors. These are the things that give life purpose.

If they don’t already, Square should have a publicly available list of all merchants accepting bitcoin. Your sats are your vote and businesses who accept bitcoin will see an influx of customers. It’s worked for Steak n Shake and it will work for others too. nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m

Probably should’ve used #asknostr for the note above ā¬†ļø
