Surprisingly easy to install the OS. Tricky part comes in getting the right apps to make your phone work without spying on you. Will conver that in the video as best I can.
Obtainium has been my go to for open source for many years now. You don't want to be relying on fdroid when you can add direct from source code releases. Up front config required but can backup and restore easily after that.
Zapstore coming along nicely but not as flexible and doesn't have all the apps you want yet.
Aurora store for the handful of proprietary apps you might still need or are in the process of transitioning out of.
Easy to install indeed but how to ensure the different profiles are indeed “sandboxed” and safe for use (no tracking) It’s also difficult to have both an esim and sim installled for different profiles
Have you figured out how to do this? Still not managed it myself.
Haven’t figured it out yet Hamlin, i think i need to install a sim card first from my local provider, but not really keen to. I am trying to get more info first, not really in a rush 😉

Lots of settings options too. I like one that switches wifi off when it disconnects from the netowork for more than a minute. I prefer the manual reuqirements to allow the phone to do things. Lots of permissions controls.

And if you ever need Google services/apps on the phone, you can install them on different Profile with nym account, so the main Profile stays de-Googled. Profiles are pretty cool feature.

Some. Depends where you're at I guess. Regardless, I think most people can wait until they get to a PC or use a web version instead of app if they're in that much of a hurry.

I recommend everybody to walk the talk. Start with getting rid of credit and debit cards. That alone will make you a force for adoption and it'll stop you all becoming hypocrites.

Just curious in what way you think this is? They've decentralised their network and server infrastructure, but it's still controlled by them. Most of their services are basically walled gardens.
Oh .. long story .. the entire premise of google is to break the most impenetrable forts of centralization - take for example
- Internet Explorer with Chrome ( which btw is largely open source )
- iOS with Android ( again largely open)
- Mac And Windows - chromeOS ( which is essentially Linux)
- google FI to fight complete autonomy of AT&T and Verizon
- wearOS to counter watchOS .. practically free for the partners like Android
- wayMo to counter Tesla
- TPUs to counter nVidia GPUs
Google is makes centralized power into a binary choice and then opens up the floodgate for smaller players .. without google earth would be ..well still flat :-)

All the banking apps (and I have a lot of them), Tesla app, and quite some more that either rely on Play Services, push notifications or check if they are really installed from Play Store.
There are PLENTY of options which don't require Play Services. You're not a google crackhead, you don't NEED their alleged "convenience."
Unfortunately not, there are no options for those apps I rely on (personally and for business).

You can run sandboxed Google play on GrapheneOS and your apps should work.
I know, my comment was concerning the "de-googled". Of course a lot better than the stock #Android OS with all the #Google apps and services, but no way for me to go full de-googled without Play Services, unfortunately.

Pro tip: Start with a clean Owner profile and do whatever in secondary profiles. That way, you can go back with a clean slate and user id.

The GrapheneOS proposal is strange to me, de-Googling the software but remaining dependent on the hardware...
I don't feel comfortable with this and hope that phones with open hardware (OSHW) will soon emerge to solve this and possible backdoors.
For me Graphene or CalyxOS or Lineage OS is the same(no identity phones). I don't understand why everybody recommend Graphene OS of other option existed long time ago(Lineage OS is probably the oldest custom rom).
