I put plastic on a cold frame that I used on one of my beds. It was thick plastic, but it was shredded after a couple of months. Of course, where I live, in the winter, it isn't considered windy until it gets over 20 mph. 60 mph winds are common. Driving on the interstate we see semis blown over multiple times every year. You quickly learn to park facing into the wind so you don't have your car door caught by the wind and the hinges bent.

The joke around here is that when the wind stops blowing, everyone falls over because they are so used to walking leaning into the wind.

Thanks for reminding me. I was trying to think of the flowers that are pest deterrents so I could plant some in my garden, but couldn't think of the name. Marigolds.

There are a lot of things he is great about, but he is supported by a bunch of pro-Bush neocons, which concerns me, and he promoted and signed a bill recently, purported to prevent anti-semitism, that gave the government the ability to charge people with a felony and significant jail time for speech. That concerns me a lot.

Balance for 30 seconds on one let with the other leg raised above waist high.

I started working on ankle strength (never been my strength) and balance (falls is a major problem for people older than 50).

Ok this is weird, but I'm proud of it. ;)

One of my family's favorite meals is salsa meat (I've made it with beef, pork, chicken, and elk and with chunks, shreds, or ground). Brown meat (I usually use 2 lbs) in a skillet with a little Paleo Pink seasoning. Steam some riced cauliflower (usually 8-10 oz). Put riced cauliflower in bottom of baking pan. Spread meat over cauliflower. Pour a jar of salsa (8 oz?) over the meat. Sprinkle a cup or two of shredded cheddar over that and bake for 20-30 minutes at 350 F. I've gotten lots of complements and it is so easy.

I do. I've gotten more out of Minds than anything else until NOSTR. When you first get on Minds, you see a lot of garbage. After blocking the stuff you don't want to see and finding people you like, it is quite good.

Theoretically it is supposed to be possible to link it to NOSTR, but I couldn't get it to work. I think I needed to create my keys from Minds and then import them into other clients. It seems like Minds won't let me import keys. Maybe that is coming in the future.

I was reading John Calvin's "Institutes of the Christian Religion" last night and this quote stuck out to me. It was in Volume 1, Chapter VI, Section 4

"Irenaeus writes that the Father, himself infinite, becomes finite in the Son, for he has accommodated himself to our little measure lest our minds be overwhelmed by the immensity of his glory."

As Christians we too often make God to small because our minds can't comprehend his awesomeness.

Nice setup. I don't think any greenhouses with plastic sheeting would last even a year where I am due to our high winds, but I like your setup.

I do a lot of work on my computer. I also have to check email and like to check some news and social media (mostly Minds and NOSTR). Sitting too long is not good for you. I also live in a cold climate and spending a lot of time outside with -30 F, 3 feet of snow, or 20 F with 40/50/60+ mph winds is not much fun, but I want to get some exercise.

One of the best purchases I've made was an exercise bike with a platform for my laptop. I do not allow myself to read email, news, or social media unless I am pedaling on my laptop. I also do some of my work work (the easy, more mundane work) while pedaling. This way I get 30 minutes to 2 hours of exercise every day even if I don't get outside to do active work. I highly rrecommend.

He's only "right" because his predictions cause the action he predicts, not because h knows what is going to happen.

It's about time some women stood up against this nonsense and anti-women actions.

In the past women were frequently treated as second class citizens. Now women are treated as second class women. How sick is that?

How much and how often do you feed comfrey to your rabbits? I have some comfrey. Their leaves are huge, so I can't imagine feeding them a whole leaf.

It's finally getting warm here, so I got out this afternoon and hooked up some of my automatic watering timers and hoses and pulled some weeds. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some seeds in the ground and start another bin or two of seeds in my kratky system.

It felt good to get sun, exercise, and stuff done in the garden.

You used to be able to go to bankrate.com to look at the financials for every bank. I can't do that for any of my small banks anymore.

Interest Rate Risks are Collapsing Banks

Fed Funds is at 5%, and they’re paying customers 15 basis points on deposits, keeping 97% of the spread for themselves.

Note: 5% has 500 basis points, and they are giving their customer 15 basis points of those 500 bps

What a deal for the big banks 🤔

We went into our bank talking about taking out money to put in treasuries. Our bank changed our interest rate from something like the 0.15% to 2%. It can be as easy as asking. Of course it helps if you have some significant funds. We have our personal and our business accounts with this bank. I don't know if they would be as accomodating if you only had $1,000 or less.
