My husband was cooking pork chops last night. He stepped a way for a couple of seconds and turned around and my dog had his front paws up on the counter. He thought he'd lost the pork chops, but No. My dog didn't want the pork chops. He wanted to chase the red dot which is associated with our IR meat thermometer.

What kind of dog wants to chase a red dot more than he wants pork chops? A Leonberger.

That's not weeds. That is baby compost. Make the most of it.

and self-sufficient people don't need the government. It makes the government irrelevant and the petty tyrants can't stand that.

We went out for a Mother's Day lunch today after church. We learned years ago, that on Mother's Day, all of the steak restaurants are full; all of the Italian Restaurants are full; and all of the Seafood Restaurants are full. Do you know what isn't full? Mexican restaurants are empty, so you instantly walk in and sit down.

I hate waiting, so we had Mexican for lunch today.

Censoring, but leaving Twitter there means that people think they are getting information they aren't. If Twitter is pulled because those in power requested censoring, the people will revolt against the censorship and maybe the censorship ends either because the people throw out those who had been in power, or those in power change their actions to keep power. Either way, the truth and freedom win.

Censorship is never the answer.

Yes. We have a strong church and lots of Christian friends. We host a Christian apologetics and creation science group that includes teens and adults that meets 2-3 times a month. Some of the Christian friends are also preppers.

Your garden looks great.

I was excited because Tuesday we just ate the first asparagus from the garden. It was fantastic. Technically I could've harvested a little last year, but I wasn't sure what I was doing and waited too long. I think I got it just right this year. I'm now thinking I need to plant some more, somewhere.

I'm glad you are OK.

In college, a friend and I were returning to the dorm late at night. When we got out of the car and started walking down the sidewalk towards the dorm. Right after we walked past one car, a guy got out and started walking behind us, faster than we were walking. I would hear walking steps, then running steps, then walking steps. I started walking ahead of my friend, so my talking to her caused me to look behind me to keep an eye on the guy. As soon as I did that, he quit the running steps. I told my friend we should walk faster because it was cold, but the guy was still gaining on us. I then suggested we walk across the lawn to get to the door faster, when we cut off the sidewalk, so did the guy behind us. Now I was getting scared, but didn't want to overreact. I saw a guy, way ahead of us, going into the dorm, so I yelled out, "Hold the door". This caused the guy at the dorm, to stop and stare at us. As soon as that happened, the guy behind us slowed down and he never entered the dorm. When I told my friend what had happened, she was clueless, but realized we had been in danger. I don't know what that guy was intending to do, but I am sure he was up to no good.

Yes. This week we are supposed to get around 20% of our normal annual rainfall. Last month we had the largest snow on record. This year is definitely on track to get way above normal moisture. Hopefully I can have the best garden production ever to go with it.

I was hoping to get a few more things in the ground before this rain came, but ran out of time. The past few weeks have been crazy busy. My summer is already filling up, so it will be tricky to fit in all of the work I want to do in my garden this year. I'm praying I can find the time to fit it all in.

I got bees a bunch of years ago, but they got foul brood (I think) and then the hive (and my house) burnt down in a fire. I'm thinking about getting bees again, but it is too late for this year because we have a very short season and the bees need every day of it to build up enough honey in a new hive.

Dave Ramsey is amazing at helping people get out of debt, but I don't trust his investment advice and I disagree with him on precious metals and Bitcoin.

I guess this is good advice in general. Pay attention to what people are good at. There are plenty of people who are great to take advice from in one area and horrible to take advice from in another area. The trick is to discern which areas are which.

I don't know how many people are familiar with Awana, a Christian kids program where kids memorize a bunch of Bible verses. My oldest son got his Citation award, and my youngest son got his Timothy award last night. The Citation award is a huge deal proving he learned about 1000 verses and read the whole Bible and summarized every book in the Bible, but I am particularly proud of my youngest, who has Down Syndrome, for getting his Timothy Award. He had to work really hard and I had to make up a song for every verse he learned to help them stick.

I got some broccoli transplanted outside on Tuesday because it was supposed to start raining the next day and for 4-5 days. (We don't normally get rain like this in Wyoming). The broccoli looks very happy and not as sad as it usually does when I transplant it.

If you notice a bunch of green against the edge of the deck, that is mostly carrots. Two Falls ago, I missed pulling all of my carrots, so some went to seed last year. At the end of the season, I just crushed the seed heads and sprinkled the seeds over the bed, hoping they would sprout this year. It looks like our crazy winds, blew all/most of the seeds against the deck, so there is a thick line of carrots growing against the edge of the deck. After the rains stop, I'll need to thin them. I don't know how growing against the cement deck will effect the carrot roots.

I left a few dandelions in the bed until I have time to get other stuff planted to fill the space.
