In 1997, two PLA Air Force Lt Colonels wrote the first doctrine document for war in the 21st Century. Their thesis, that borders were meaningless in an internet-connected, globalized world meant that global political warfare was not only possible, but winnable. They posited that disease (Covid) and many other every day human events could be weaponized. What yesterday taught was that even assassination scales in the new world of technology and global markets. It’s not the first time the federal government or DoD failed. The tragedy is that we used to be able to count on the press to fight for the truth. No more. The pentagon papers are a long way in the rear view mirror.

Great idea!

You might wonder how does speaking to the National War College class intersect with being the CEO of SEMPRE. Well, here’s what I think: our digital infrastructure is a key ingredient in our national resilience. It is the infrastructure upon which everything in the information domain relies. Securing that and making it hardened to disruption is what @sempre_usa does. In essence, we continue the mission I set out to do when I joined the military, protect our people and our republic.
