Every single search engine absolutely sucks. Borderline unusable. Impossible to research anything from “obscure” resources.

Google, DuckDuckGo, Brave, Bing.

None of them return the results I want. (Normally just a bunch of NPC news results and other “trusted” sources).

AI is decent for search, but you can’t trust the info it feeds since it was trained using the same garbage.

Using commands and deep search terms helps, but still very difficult to find what you want.

Is the internet just cooked at this point?

I don’t know. Elm project has not progressing for years and it’s toolchain is not working well with new web standards.

So I totally gave up Elm. The architecture is great but the engineering is just not there.

what is the best css styling choice to go with Elm?

Nostr could be a very good place for programmers to discuss issues. Now, I really want to know if anybody is using Elm programming language. #elm

This is the reason I just said #fuckit and went full #elm lang. on my way to functional programming redemption.

If a relay doesn't accept posts from random pubkeys (usually for spam prevention purposes).... how could gossip test that it would work well as an inbox? I can't create new events signed by your friends. Best I can do is make up a random keypair which will get rejected. Basically I think inbox suitability cannot be tested on such relays. Gossip will give such relays an X for inbox usage because I have no way to otherwise know, but the (OK, false, msg) message will be available as a hover-popup to users so that relays have a chance to explain themselves.

My next goal is to get users to reduce their relay lists from an average of 20 to 3.

You don't need to trust 20 relays. You just need 1. But 3 adds redundancy in case 2 of them are busy at the same time.

And remember: Relays can see what you are looking at in real time because the app is requesting the post, likes and replies from them as you scroll. They can even count which posts captured more of your attention.

So, make sure you trust your relay operators.
