Yeah CR is on my list as well, its a bit shitty with flight connections to Europe tho. And it seems very expensive from brief look

Shouldnt we rather focus on replacing the centralized permissioned dns services with something decentralized?

see thats the problem, we havent reached shit. we just lose bits and pieces of it every day.

there are very clear goals to freedom and steps to get there. the problem is that everything we've been told tells us that its crazy and impossible to do it.

entrenched ideas and dull people are what makes the current dystopia of surveillance capitalism and totalitarian tendencies work. Talking about horizons and ideals automatically pushes freedom into an intangible sphere. Freedoms that were eroded or taken away are not intangible. They are very real and impacting us on every corner of our lives.

Horizons are dreamy and discussed over joints or after DMT sessions. Frontiers are dangerous and places where men are separated from boys, where your blade needs to be sharp and your gun chambered.

And make no mistake, we're in the latter category.

Freedom is the real final frontier

something to think about next time you want to attend a "bitcoin" conference https://protos.com/bitcoin-lightning-dev-tried-to-outsmart-secret-service-at-trump-speech/

Very nice interview on strategy (for businesses) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7SN4FK8noY

i have high time preference for freedom

None of you seem to get it - no government wants bitcoin to succeed in its purest form - p2p money.

They will let you have price exposure for your votes, but they will never embrace the ethos of freedom that once was part of bitcoin.

Now we celebrate state figures and wall street financial products.

Europe has great history of putting people and their assets on lists. nostr:note1mqhs4peesydv39633j0k8r57qdvdwvs9ha3q8f35524wc46t0hjs9jea3w

certificate transparency is great, before letsencrypt it took at least couple hours usually before newly deployed server was hit with something malicious , now it takes 15seconds

Not many understand that. Just stacking sats, hiding in your basement and shitposting is not gonna save you pleb. nostr:note1hpl73q6utetwdmth3u7vvp0h87y869ja00247prc5pg9n45pqgcs6wy2j6

We agree that lots of societies problems are downstream of broken money. But fixing the money just gives us the means to fix the rest. When do we start with that?

Oh damn, i've been trying this with past iterations of the LLMs but the cutoffs were just too early for enough nostr code in them

Men used to overthrow governments when they threatened their business. Nowadays we just spread our cheeks and ask for more.

I really hope nostriga is not the start of social justice warriors shitshow on nostr.

If we are replicating twitter it doesnt mean that we need to take all the bad shit from it too https://github.com/nostrworld/nostriga/issues/19#issuecomment-2198534854

i might be missing something but its more of a denial of service scenario with bgp hijack, the ip in LN is not the sole identifier so you can't MITM it like you could with HTTPS if you can get a cert issued (which isnt really an issue if the dns is pointing towards your infrastructure after the hijack).

nodes don't generally care about their ips or the fact that they change that much. Sure updates propagate long through gossip etc, but its minor compared to identity being tied to it like the case of federation and domain name.

another "permissionless" solution built on top of something that is inherently prone to get rugged - DNS system.

its already bad enough that lightning network is based on public ips (yes, i know you can also run it on tor, thx) which is a huge privacy leak and potential vulnerability.

until we need things that require someone elses permission (ip, dns etc) we'll always be one step behind. We need to change the foundation and pull the control out at its roots.

How many sources did you check before finally beliving that Assange is free?

its 7:07 and i've already spent more than 20minutes reading about various torpedo counter-measures technologies today

lots of warez stuff, random sites like iherb.com

the amount of censored websites (dns blackholed) I stumble upon in Italy is quite impressive

Have we given up on medium of exchange at scale?
