I’m running out of choices where to move. Seems like Europe is in total chaos and have draconian law against freedom. So minus Madeira or Switzerland! Middle East is on the brink of war. Minus Dubai! LATAM is too far and not developed well. The struggle is real !

move to Lugano, you’ll be fine.

Too expensive

What the average living cost ?

expect north of 3k/mo

I spend ~6k here in Chicago 😖

You’ll be fine in Italy. Focus on Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Liguria, and Lombardy regions

Isn't Etna erupting?

Yessir, don’t need to be right next to Etna though lol.

Palermo and Trapani would be fine.

Also, another reason to move to Italy is that if the house isn’t considered a luxury home, there’s no property tax. It’s typically any home less than 1 million euros.

Income wise, capital gains on stocks is 26% and Italy has a deal for no dual taxation if you’re a U.S. citizen up to like $135k equivalent (Italy has a flat tax up to €100k and no extra taxes after that).

LATAM is probably still the best bet, tho i'm facing similar issues

In Paraguay there's no income tax and no tax papers filling

Costa Rica would make sense but man it’s going to be a big downgrade for me 😅

Yeah CR is on my list as well, its a bit shitty with flight connections to Europe tho. And it seems very expensive from brief look

Yeah i wanted something closer to europe

montenegro?

IKR!

Yeah. Never thought that it’s going to be a challenge

I have been struggling with those exact thoughts for the past year... I was thinking a lot about Switzerland too. But now they seem to force Bitcoin companies to do KYC as well. Madeira seems interesting...

I also thought at some point for New Zealand but it's way too far and isolated.

New Zealand is way too Socialist.

Did you see their Covid response? 2020 highlighted a lot of unsafe countries.

I mean, here in the USA and Europe same shit! 95% were locked

Ah yes good point, they were a bit too draconian...

Damn, what place is left then? The world feels too small sometimes...

I knew someone that was really successful in New Zealand, but left to retire early in Italy ~20 years ago, complaining that NZ was already too Socialist.

Hmm interesting...

New Zealand is also on my radar if world will be heading into the war but yeah other than that it’s too far and I doubt that my parents and friends will be visiting us

It's a beautiful place, but it seems to have turned into a police state since the plandemic

Ser, last week I was asked to use sanitizer and put the gloves in Chicagoan bookstore 😂

Damn, WTH

Communists are everywhere 😁

Oh shit. But proposing doesn’t mean that it will be passed in the senate

Psst. Cape Town.

Southwestern Ontario (far from Toronto).

Oh no, Canada is communist country sorry 😂

That’s yesterday’s news. Big change afoot.

Stop thinking laterally and start thinking vertically. Dig out trenches and lay down some shipping containers. However many guns you think you need, get more than that.

I hear good things about Costa Rica

Me too! And they have bitcoin jungle, and chill vibes with 🌊 but man it’s gonna be kinda village life that makes me think what I will gonna do over there. and not too many friends and my parents would be able to fly that far.

https://www.visitcostarica.com/en

You'd have plenty to do. :)

I meant from the business prospective. Opening bitcoin bar on the beach 🤔

Do what you do now but do it there.

How’s your Russian salad game? You could probably locally source most ingredients for bitcoin…. Not a serious suggestion but I did make myself hungry.

you should start a Russian Salad food truck. But instead of a truck, use a Dutch cargo bike. Make an old Soviet era style logo… 😆

Vinigret zaebis salad.

You like giant insects?

I don’t think that it would bother me.

I do not. But also not a deal breaker.

Germany, Czech, Malta, Portugal or El Salvador

El Salvador is dictatorship so it’s definitely no go!

Gotta take a look at Malta and Czech(I might even be able to understand their language a little bit)

Everyone speaks english in malta and czech. Czech is quite close to other slavic languages. Raz, dva, tři ... Malta is quite expensive, esp. for property. Both have bitcoiners.

We’re looking at St. Kitts & Nevis and Malta primarily. Madeira is an option.

I learned about Lugano, Switzerland from nostr:npub1lr2zzf989mvf393y0tv39ara6a4vddkd6y87z784up9vl6ks6j3qtudl6a

It has a very high adoption for Bitcoin payments in the shops, bars, restaurants etc… You can even pay your taxes and buy a house in Bitcoin.

i'd suggest taking germany off the list... while their bitcoin holder laws are good in theory for hodlers, I've never seen a more officious, rule-following,, faux progressive, herd-like culture anywhere in the world 🙈

Probably Iceland or albania

Try getting into Lichtenstein. Won't be easy

The only one place I would be looking is Lugano

You were saying Bali & Thailand?

Bali is very small. So I decided to take it out from my list. Thailand is still on the radar but definitely not the Bangkok

I would recommend Argentina. intelligent and friendly people with the chance of a bright future. And most important, everybody knows how to live ignoring the government, just in case!

I’m also bullish on Thailand. It also rhymes with my name. 😁

Maybe nostr:npub1lelkh3hhxw9hdwlcpk6q9t0xt9f7yze0y0nxazvzqjmre3p98x3sthkvyz can say a thing or two. Afaik, he’s living there rn.

Yes. I liked it there. Costa Rica right now is my fav though. But it’s expensive af

What’s the monthly budget ?

Need at least 1.5k but more like 2k

That’s 3.5x less than I spend here in Chicago 🤣

For one person? 👀👀

For me and my wife

Vietnam maybe

Liveaboard sailboat 🏴‍☠️

Texas, Florida, Wyoming. Don’t bet against the U.S.🇺🇸

Nah, 8 years of America is enough for me 😁

Oh well I tried ✌️

my preferred options are high mountains bosnia or mongolia

oh yes... and colorado

Saudi will be the new dubai and they won't allow wars there

Rural France is great! Cheap Wine, Good food and good wine and Cheese, and don't forget the pâtisseries, wine and the cheese, the bread, wine and cheese.

The scenery is awesome and you get regularly eat cheese and drink wine, what more could you ask for, maybe more bread, wine, cheese and fresh salads vegetables and don't forget the cheese. And meats they're all good too!

Each region is run by a Mayor who listens to its citizens or else they'll lose their jobs but don't forget to try the cheese.

Masan, after olimpics I don't even want to visit France for a few days 😃

Idk wtf “Masan” 😂

LATAM is fine in most places below the Tropic of Capricorn.

Too far? You only have to go once!

Yeah but I have a friends and family that will not be flying over there to visit 😅

another advantage! ;-)

Puerto Rico may be an option

Actually an island is a good bet

I totally feel this too. few places left to run to 🙈😅

Mexico City is not far and very developed.

Liberation.travel

Im Swiss myself and this could honestly be a great option if you can make it happen. Switzerland is kinda slept on right now, but they are pretty far already with Bitcoin and historically know the value of good and hard money. And they are great with finances overall. And they are not in the EU.

I hear very good things to about Costa Rica too.

It might be interesting to keep an eye on Japan over the years to come. Too early to say.

Also, don’t sleep on Eastern Europe. It’s lovely and quite affordable. But it depends a bit on how it turns out with „Russian expansion plans“.

Let's build a citadel.

There’s one going cheap in Gozo, Malta

Donetsk at the front has your name all over it.

Latam is well developed. look into it.
