I don't know who "we" is, but whoever is dumb enough to believe El Faro is "independent media" is pretty dumb.
I'm in the process of getting my kids their Salvadoran DUIs and passports. We've purchased property and plan on transitioning our lives down to El Salvador over time.
My thoughts on the evolution of the country are best summarized here. I invite you to watch:

They're not being persecuted, and they're not going to stop reporting on El Salvador.
As they said in the press release, they are choosing to move their legal and administrative functions to Costa Rica.
These are not civil liberties crack downs, these are business decisions.
As far as El Faro goes, they were founded and are fun by two wealthy establishment figures from the AREN party whose 25-year old newspaper business has lost relevancy with Salvadorans.
El Faro is no different from partisan news outlets in America funded by billionaires with a political and economic agenda. An "independent" paper it is not.
They're making a business decision, not getting kicked out of the country or living 'in exile' which is a *rich* way to describe the fact that Salvadorans don't value what El Faro sells.
It's as simple as that.

On El Salvador specifically I'd recommend La Masacre Del Mozote:

On modern Central America more broadly, I'd recommend The Path Between the Seas:
I think Open Veins of Latin America is a great, complete, country-by-country accounting of Latin America starting well back before colonization. At once infuriating and inspiring to learn such specific details of the people who played the roles of oppressors, revolutionary leaders, and everything in between.
It also does a great job of explaining the wide array of waves of immigration from each Latin American countries to the US. Every country's story is so unique.
Heading to Egypt in a few days. Would love to visit some bitcoin-friendly establishments. DM me please if you know of any!
A looot of hot air from regulators (CFTC, FinCEN) so far. I'm here for the conversations on mining later.
absolutely, as well as untailored suits at least two sizes too large
I am at the _literal_ opposite of Nostrica listening to the head of FinCEN, AMA.

Never thought I'd be selling 30-day hashprice forwards @ $55.50 in 2023 but here we are.
