Tonight’s #carnivore dinner with my two year old commanding shrimp to be put on her plate as I took this.
Still have tons of chicken left from last year’s runs so trying to get through that before the new birds arrive. #chicken #shrimp #foodstr #grownostr
Looks like the sheep are creatures of habit and were not letting my poly wire contain them out in the pasture last night. Found them chilling in the shade in their main pen this morning - lol happy Monday! #homesteading #sheep #carnivore #grownostr
And there we have it - moved into the next paddock and right to work.
We have been locking the sheep down in the main pen nightly due to the coyotes having spring pups and being known to be more aggressive.
As the sheep move away from the pen it becomes more and more work to get them to and from so they will now stay out on pasture.
I’m considering running a sort of chute out of a single poly wire to allow access and make supplying water easier but for now they will stay out. #homesteading #sheep #carnivore #rotationalgrazing #grownostr
Last day in this paddock for the sheep. Will be moving to the next this afternoon.
Sheep are certainly not picky eaters as this pasture was never grazed before and full of all sorts of weeds. They mowed it all down and honestly probably could have moved them a day or so ago.
Looking forward to seeing how it progresses as they cycle through again this summer. #homesteading #sheep #rotationalgrazing #carnivore #grownostr
Morning #coffee from the front porch. Had a mild frost last night but quickly warming up with no 30 degree nights in sight. Knock on wood but we may have had our final frost! #homesteading #grownostr
Back home on the farm for feeding time and sleeping for some. The little Guinea hogs decided they were going to use this old tarp as their bed. #homesteading #pigs #carnivore #farm #grownostr

Thanks! We appreciate it
My wife and I are enjoying our first #coffee together in 9 months from the recovery room as we welcomed our son into the world last night!! #family #grownostr
Definitely trim it back. The way I got my animals to respect the single strand is too make sure it really hits and all the time. I currently have about 7,200 ft of permanent and temp hotwire around the property at the moment. With the light drizzle we had last night it was hitting at about 9.5 kV this morning when I tested it before letting the animals out to graze. I only have 2 ground rods made from rebar too.
If you don't have a good fence tester, definitely invest in one. I use this one: https://store.am.gallagher.com/am/us/en_US/animal-management/electric-fencing/power/remotes-and-fence-testers/fence-volt-current-meter-and-fault-finder/p/G50905
During the summer I have a dripline on the ground rods to keep the soil around them moist. We get blazing hot and dry during the summer here.
Looking forward to your posts. Nice job on the charger box too.
Really appreciate the advice! I’ll definitely grab one
I thought so as well. Have two grounding rods. I do have to walk the fence light and trim some brush back. We’ve had a good deal of growth since finishing the fence and getting this hooked up. May be part of the issue. Thank you - will look into the issue
I’m getting a reading of 6100 volts. The fence is 5 strand roughly 2.5 acres.
Upgraded energizer is on and should provide us plenty of power for the new pasture! #solar #homesteading #permaculture #livestock #grownostr

Scurrying around in the rain! We’ve just about had non stop rain since Friday night. Was a little concerned how these little guys would hold up but they appear just fine. #homesteading #pigs #grownostr #rain #carnivore https://nostr.build/av/nostr.build_a008892ec65377f23113a7a08c9db2197489a1b1ddf9037bb852eb9ec26fde2d.mov
Was able to take advantage of a quick break in the rain and got some broccoli plugs in the ground.
We started over with a new garden this year. Reasoning - the old garden was too far from the house and is now fenced in pasture. Meat is better than vegetables anyway…
Advice for any new gardeners out there: Put your garden as close to your house as you can!! Trust me you will spend more time in something a few feet from the house than in the back corner of your property or in my case the middle of a field. #lessonlearned #grownostr #garden #homesteading.

Pigs aren’t minding this cold rainy weather one bit. #pigs #homesteading #carnivore #bacon #grownostr https://nostr.build/av/nostr.build_11dda467801fa4d5945de1e6c0aeb107d58af4c9f64f03264cf4cf1a3bf8adc2.mov
Have a cheap electric hand whisk. Very easy

These premier one energizers have worked wonders helping us get established with pigs and sheep. They pack a pretty good punch on smaller areas when used with netting or poly wire.
We are working on an upgrade with the new tensile pasture. Moving to a 6 joule cyclops energizer wired up with a battery and solar panel due to the location of our pasture. Excited to get it out but not sure it’ll happen in the rain this weekend. More to come! #homesteading #permaculture #pigs #sheep #grownostr
Think I got it. Had to change image uploader in settings
