Nice work!

How hot is that fence?? How much are you energizing at once?

I’m getting a reading of 6100 volts. The fence is 5 strand roughly 2.5 acres.

You should be getting a much bigger kick. I have the exact same charger. I have multiple lines running around the property. I am getting about 8-9 kV even with all the temp polywire I just put up. It'll get up to 10-11 kV when it's just the permanent wire. How many ground rods you have?

I thought so as well. Have two grounding rods. I do have to walk the fence light and trim some brush back. We’ve had a good deal of growth since finishing the fence and getting this hooked up. May be part of the issue. Thank you - will look into the issue

Definitely trim it back. The way I got my animals to respect the single strand is too make sure it really hits and all the time. I currently have about 7,200 ft of permanent and temp hotwire around the property at the moment. With the light drizzle we had last night it was hitting at about 9.5 kV this morning when I tested it before letting the animals out to graze. I only have 2 ground rods made from rebar too.

If you don't have a good fence tester, definitely invest in one. I use this one: https://store.am.gallagher.com/am/us/en_US/animal-management/electric-fencing/power/remotes-and-fence-testers/fence-volt-current-meter-and-fault-finder/p/G50905

During the summer I have a dripline on the ground rods to keep the soil around them moist. We get blazing hot and dry during the summer here.

Looking forward to your posts. Nice job on the charger box too.

Really appreciate the advice! I’ll definitely grab one

I love my cyclops charger. It's got a kick.
