I never understood how anyone has a problem with number 2. Even as a child, I found it as such a childish point to make.

It essentially comes down to a massive sense of entitlement. You are nothing. Allah is all-powerful. You don't have a right to complain about anything he does to you.

A slave can't complain about anything his master does to him. Your master can whip you, brand you, cut your balls off etc. You have no basis to oppose his will, because you are his property. The only reason we have seen otherwise is because of a higher morality. The slave cannot oppose his master in a vacuum, but historically has lobbied for greater rights by appealing to a higher morality.

Now the next question to this will be "But doesn't your god promise you justice?"

This is a major step forward because the argument has moved on from demanding Allah act according to their values, to demanding Allah back up his own promises.

Allah doesn't promise you a lack of suffering, he promises ultimate justice. The idea that good = nothing bad ever, is one that you made up. Allah says he is ultimately just, not the preventer of all injustice at all times. And "good" is whatever God says because He is the creator of everything and you have no standing to say otherwise. He owns you.

There is enough time in eternity to make up for whatever trivial injustices you suffer in your decades on earth. You just have a high time preference if you demand all the justice in the little time you have here.

The question I think mainly stems from ignorance of the moral responsibility ordained unto us by Him. It’s a reflection of a society refusing to take responsibility for their actions and like you mentioned wants to be nannied every step of the way.

Okay, so in the gap in posting this response I hope time was spent in reviewing the video playlist shared earlier for Why Islam Is True. Sh Karamali does a great job breaking this down so I won't try to cover that part too much which is a solid overview of the Kalam Cosmological argument (based on Imam al-Ghazali's work Tahafut al-Falasifa). It sufficiently covers the existence of God by logically using first principles to define God as the necessary being and all other creation being contingent beings.

What I want to dive into is the second question you brought up which is the one about injustice or evil. You question could be rephrased as this:

How could a good and just God permit evil and suffering?

The logical breakdown of this is:

- God is omnipotent (all powerful, not limited).

- A perfectly good and just God would eliminate evil, so if such a God exists he would want to do so and would do so.

- But evil exists, meaning:

> God is not omnipotent

> God is not perfectly good

> or, God does not exist

This is often called the "atheist" argument but really all theists have to address this one way or another. Christian, Jew, or Muslim, we all must respond to this.

I'm just going to note this right now and get it out of the way, but all non-wahid understandings of God must place conditions on God by definition (ie. Trinity - Polytheism). Nearly all Christians end up turning God into a contingent being which opens them up to a metaphysical doom loop.

God is the necessary being who remains non-conditioned. Anything is possible with God. What does "anything" mean? Well, it is important to note that logical contradictions like a triangular cube are not things. They are as meaningless to speak of as it is to speak of God creating such, and have nothing to do with God's capacity or lack thereof. God is capable of unrestrictedly acting in any and all non-contradictory ways.

Good and bad are also not exclusively subjective terms. An example is that a rotten watermelon is objectively bad. It has failed at being food. Good and bad have to do with a things essence. Good or bad in humans must be contingent of volitional (free-will) acts (change/time are part of free-will). Thus good actions lead to transformation of the human soul from potentiality to actuality in the realization of human flourishing, in contrast to bad actions which hamper and frustrate this transformative movement/process. Badness or evil involves a failure to actualize latent and implicit potential essence of the nature of a thing.

- Goodness is related to presence or existence

- Badness is related to absence or non-existence

All things other than God are a mixture of potency and act. God is pure actuality without potentiality, God is absolute.

What follows is that divine omnipotence is not logically inconsistent with the existence of evil in the world as struggle and hardship constitute the efficient cause for the latent potencies

To eliminate all evil from the world, free-will would also have to be eliminated. The resulting human would be one devoid of moral responsibility. For such a creature there would be no meaningful notion of divine reward and punishment. However, with free-will the human's nature is not one that is inherently evil (like the Christian errors to assume). Humans mistakenly fall into evil when they fail to actualize their innate potential for good. Furthermore, God provided guides (the prophets and the books of scripture) in order that examples of true goodness might be clearly known and remembered.

Mercy and forgiveness can only be exercised toward another who has committed a wrong against you. Patience and forbearance can only be realized in the face of hardship and adversity. Courage and fortitude are only possible in the face of danger to life, or property, or status or the like. Compassion and empathy cannot be realized without those who have suffered misfortune. Sacrifice is not possible without the loss of that which one holds dear.

I'll cut straight to the conclusion. The fact that we recognize evil in the world is testament to our intellect remembering the goodness of God. This is why forgetfulness is not a sin, but heedlessness is. Yes, humans can shed blood and that is horrifying, but at the same time we are greater than so much more goodness than even angels can imagine as our state is loftier than theirs. And what a beautiful reminder is that of our existence and that this existence being contingent on our Creator, because in the absence of that remembrance is the gravitation toward nothingness. We are spiraling always toward either nearness in remembrance or loss in absence of the divine presence. So do not be afraid of evil because in Truth it has no power over you.

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Alamin!

Thank you for this wonderful and detailed response. Couldn’t agree more with everything you’ve said.

Jazak Allah Khair 🤝

The State: “We need to know where and when you spend your money to prevent fraud”

Plebs: “Sure but on one condition! Go back to a sound money standard.”

State: “GFY”

Plebs: “GFY”

If enough of us tell the state to 🖕🏼 off, they will eventually be forced to adopt #bitcoin.

They might round up a few of us but not all of us.

Understand your collective strength!

If the masses realize the financial tyranny they’ve been subject to, we can start a global revolution as early as tomorrow.

We all know the State won’t give up their monopoly over money.

Solution?

Stop using their inflationary credit based currency and adopt a #bitcoin standard.

Start building your own little circular economies.

Take your economic power away from the fiat system.

The more it starves, the sooner it dies!

Division of labour is important but when it comes to securing your #bitcoin, you need to be the last and only line of defence.

Once the world is on a Bitcoin standard inshAllah, we will most definitely have bitcoin banks. Sure you can give up custody to them because they may be more “secure” but giving up your money is giving up your autonomy.

Money is power and if you don’t own, control and wield your own power, you have effectively neutered yourself.

I understand use cases for collaborative custody (e.g. 2 of 3 multi-sig setups) but those are exceptions.

However avoid giving 100% custody of your coins.

Get comfortable being a financially sovereign individual. Certain matters require radical amounts of responsibility and securing your autonomy is not the place to cut corners.

One of the most underrated aspects of #bitcoin is that you can simply hold it and forget about everything else once you’ve understood its technicals combined with its economics.

Simply opt out of the fiat circus and put yourself on a hard money standard. If enough people do this, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and the fiat Ponzi collapses sooner rather than later.

As time goes on, it’s becoming increasingly important for people to understand the implications of giving up custody of their funds in a system designed to rob them.

#Bitcoin in self-custody is slowly becoming mandatory than a choice.

As much as I want people to realize this sooner rather than later, unfortunately financial pain is the only way most will understand this.

It’s about the characteristics of sound money that determine which medium is to emerge.

Gold worked for centuries. We know why it worked and why it eventually failed.

We have enough data to understand what characteristics sound money should have.

#Bitcoin is the first example of a sound money manufactured to have all characteristics of sound money.

Muslims need to snap out of the delusions of “islamic banking” and “sharia compliant finance” within the legacy system. It doesn’t work!

You cannot fix a broken system from within it.

Usury is baked in fiat and you simply cannot avoid it unless you adopt a different medium.

The sooner muslims understand the implications of usurious currencies on their lives, the better.
