๐ฏ It's already been three years since Captain Kirk got to float weightless for a few minutes. ๐
It's interesting to see the skew between the prediction markets and "official" polling. ๐ฟ
I might be more receptive to the nonstop political texts if they included some #sats. Actions over words. #bitcoin
Watching the shadows of leaves move on the ground is oddly therapeutic.
But what is the life expectancy of those who smoke in those countries? Overall life expectancy (i.e. combining smokers and non-smokers) has too many confounders.
I didn't realize how widespread this problem is until Elon started harping on it. The rate of decline is alarming.
Sir, the turkey farmers would like a word with you. ๐
E-Ink has a certain appeal, but I'm not going to give up color on a phone. I want to see the pictures I take for example.
Yeah, this person seems determined to pick a fight. It's been a while since I've witnessed this level of toxicity. Oh well.
You're going to make a sweeping generalization on day one? Seems like you just want to pick a fight. No thanks. Nostr is for everyone though; that's true freedom. So welcome to nostr.
Hi Adam.
nostr:npub1qqvt0m3nlvjnssmrn33w9yh7cuq2dx5nkz8wxax9hk5hrjdnj4jqz8cn3w has an incredible episode on this topic.
Worth your time!
And welcome to the rabbit hole.
Thanks. It's 2:23 in length, so I'll have to decide how much energy I want to devote to this. There are so many other troublesome things going on that are far easier to prove and therefore correctable. I'm just not convinced these studies can be stopped until there's less catastrophizing about the climate. A large segment of the population thinks the world will end if we don't take drastic action on the climate, thus funding for these ideas will continue.
... on humans!
Does nostr fix this? Depressing af:
"All of which is why we may soon be entering a golden age for truly psychotic totalitarian regimes. The Kim Il-Sung of the future wonโt need an army of peasants expecting tile roofs if he has an army of killer robots, and ChatGPT is much cheaper than a full-time propaganda minister. Depending on how good AI gets, it will sharply reduce the number of people required to run an effective regime. In the limit, you can imagine a single mad king with no human servitors at all, just a computer as his grand vizier. There would be no limit to how brutal or crazy this guy could get, no limit to what he could do to his populace for fear of triggering a revolt amongst his own bodyguards."

Usually a counter force emerges in these situations, eventually. Presumably that force would also have AI assisting them.
I appreciate nostr:nprofile1qqst5teefqektpr4aytgpwyclxlq78v9q9nvd2pem0sgf5pxdttwyzspzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyfhwumn8ghj7ur4wfcxcetsv9njuetn9u4qf5yj engaging with me in a thoughtful way, especially after I vented about the usual chemtail posts I see.
The video he shared is fairly neutral and it's a reasonable starting point for a more nuanced discussion. I was aware of some of these projects but of course the rabbit hole goes deeper. My only complaint is many of the documents he shares in the video don't include a link to the original source.
I'm surprised #nostr doesn't have a #cancer community. Am I missing something?
In Peter St Onge's latest video, he says 1 in 7 prime working age men have dropped out of the labor force. OK, but how are they surviving without income? Do they all live with their parents?
