When we set out on a #hike we like to think we are prepared for everything…. And then reality sets in and we realize we are one of those hikers. You know the type:
* Root Tripping Champion – Gravity always wins.
* Overpacked Explorer – Carrying a pack the size of a small car.
* Unplanned Detour – “It’s definitely this way.” (It’s not.)
* Vert Alert – this was supposed to be an easy hike.
If you could see your last hike from a hawk’s perspective, what would it look like?

It’s a #wildlife out there
We are drinking in every last drop of those desert vibes.
White Sands National Park is a magical place to explore and some of the last tolerable weather we'll enjoy this winter.
Up next: real winter. Maybe even some more snow.
But, in my head, I'm already imagining the first blooms of spring. Fresh, brilliant green leaves. Maybe even a race?
Spring can’t come soon enough.
What is your favorite National Park?
Mine may rotate by season. In the winter, I certainly appreciate all the desert draws of the Southwest: Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Saguaro, White Sands, and Big Bend.

A winter dawn in the desert insinuates its cold fingers under loose layers to chill anything that isn't wrapped tight against the wind.
I always fumble with my camera, trying to set up a shot of the sunrise while wearing gloves. It never really works. At some point, the gloves come off, and the countdown starts to the point when my fingers will be numb and unresponsive.
But for those views of the rosy shades of dawn over the desert below, it's worth it!

We will rarely choose to travel up into the mountains during the winter, but this is one of those notable exceptions.
Exploring the wonderful and weird terrain of Meow Wolf Santa Fe.
Most houses of art are sterile institutions with signs, velvet ropes, and guards to reinforce the ubiquitous command “do not touch.” Such is not the case at Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return. This immersive experience not only begs us to touch but push, swing, slide, and step into the art.
