Been testing with friends, but more often than not we get this message when searching for each other, even though we are all on the app 🤔

Why did choreographed dance routines by nurses emerge simultaneously across continents during a declared global emergency? If hospitals were truly overwhelmed with dying patients, would staff have the time, energy, or emotional capacity for elaborate TikTok videos? Were the dancing nurses a test to identify who would comply, who would stay silent, and who would resist? What happens to a society when questioning observable reality becomes socially punishable? Were the dancing nurses the beginning of a larger social experiment in cognitive obedience?
How could two mutually exclusive realities; “overrun hospitals” and “dancing medical staff”, coexist without public outrage? Did each subsequent contradiction; masks, mandates, lockdowns, vaccines build upon the first one to deepen submission? Have we been conditioned to equate compliance with virtue, and skepticism with selfishness? How does fear make populations easier to manipulate into moral conformity? Why do official acknowledgments of "overreach" or "errors" come years later without accountability?
Were the dancing nurses the state’s way of mocking the very people it was supposedly protecting? How many people laughed, clapped, or shared those videos without realizing they were part of the spectacle? What psychological need is fulfilled by publicly demonstrating compliance? Why did people feel morally superior for following rules that kept changing, rather than questioning why the rules kept changing? Were the dancing nurses a minor curiosity, an irrelevant sideshow in a larger crisis, or were they the moment when power showed its face and most of us chose to look away?

lol what?? people find joy with each other in difficult situations. i've seen people under siege in Gaza make some funny videos occasionally, because finding joy is a form of survival and resistance. have you even ever worked in a hospital? this is such an unfounded conspiracy
The crypto scams have not only made criminals - like Trump - wealthier, but they have destroyed the reputation of crypto as a tool for liberation. Maybe early crypto scams were simple cash grabs, but they now seem part of a systematic tactic to destroy people's trust in truly decentralized money, so that they will be more welcoming of CBDCs.
Are there Nostr hackathons? Even if there's no real funding for that, we should be having them to create the "buidl" culture of Ethereum. Great products will come from them and create cyclical growth.
this would definitely increase censorship resistance!
the "no politics" attitude is how we get fascism - by disengaging from politics and being hyper individualistic, focusing on your personal finances and forgetting about human dignity. the children are being bombed and you are worried about Nostr being political??
⚡️🚨 ALERT - Several children were injured in Gaza after unexploded ordnance from the Israeli army, fired during the war, exploded.
Kids playing with and between bombs ends tragic. Sad…

but we should still be able to token-gate.
isn't it still easier than other servers?
the best tech gets build under the worst conditions
which one? was this Aztec? is this UK thing 😬
economic violence
i'm guessing Larry Ellison won't be on "best behavior" bc these surveillance systems he's helping to create won't target himself
Anyone know the secret to getting Nostr relays to work? I've used a number of apps on Nostr, like chat apps and some Discord-style UXs, where despite my friends and I being on the same relays, the message histories are very disjointed, and sometimes retrieve messages, then don't, then do... Is there a good guide out there for Nostr development or any communities I can join? Any recommendations are welcome!
What about not conceptualizing The People as "consumers" in relation to the government. Personally prefer "citizen."
makes sense, a strategy to claim that use case. religious manifestation of financial value - guess all religions do that in some way
Can someone explain to me this whole Bitcoin circle jerk thing. Like I understood it a decade ago when it was still new, and actually revolutionary (and you could buy drugs and stuff), but feels like it hasn't really evolved much in comparison to Ethereum, where there's tons of non-financial use cases. And I respect the purity of keeping Bitcoin as a financial tool, but after a whole decade, jumping into Nostr and people are still circle jerking over Bitcoin... Am I missing something?
Is there a good Nostr development starter template?
let's make it happen! it's weird tho, Bitcoin folks are very financially focused, not much happening governance-wise, and Ethereum folks have built themselves a bubble, thus have little interest in Nostr since they use Ethereum for everything (like Farcaster for example)... i find it odd how insulated these 2 communities have become, especially since Eth was originally an outgrowth of the Bitcoin project
i might try a PoC with federated or key servers, as you're right, Nostr a bit wacky with aligning the relays, but hope to launch MVP on Nostr ultimately
Markets and trade are as old as the ancient formation of city-states, but primitive capital accumulation by merchants arbitrage of trade between city-states was limited, until in the 15-16th centuries, when the merchants began to seize political power, which provided legal frameworks for capitalism to expand, backed by the violence of the state.
So yes, I agree Capitalists forms of market and trade existed throughout the ancient world, but Capitalism as a hegemonic global economic system depends on its control of political power and state violence.
What changed about 500 years ago is the invention of the printing press, which allowed people to read and interpret the Bible for the themselves in Europe, which prompted the Protestant Reformation, undermining the union of the feudal-state with the Catholic church. This was the crucial historical moment where the merchant class, which was highly organized and resourced, was able to seize political power, and that is when the nation-state emerged.
Capitalism was a Coordination mechanism for Colonizers.
