I’m actually quite concerned that the messaging hasn’t focused on educating people why SMS is an insecure method and that alternatives are much better and just as easy.
If you’re insistent upon using SMS for 2FA when much better options are available you deserve to get your accounts hijacked.
It seems to me that these tech influencers aren’t the least bit tech savvy.
Barnucles lost access to his YouTube because he admitted to storing his 2FA codes in his password manager, which happened to be LastPass. Then a cryptobro, whose name escapes me, lost an NFT because he clicked on a phishing link. He then revealed he didn’t understand how to recover funds to a hardware wallet. And now iJustine posted that she received the message about Twitter moving SMS verification behind the pay wall.
Fam, is it just me or does it seem like a lot of tech influencers are revealing they’re brazenly negligent with cybersecurity?
To anyone who might have Twitter FOMO: Everyone is up in arms because SMS 2FA will be behind the paywall. All other forms of 2FA will be available to free users.
