Google Messages has added support for Ultra HDR images, but with the other limitations that come with the new image format. Ultra HDR is a new image format that is available on Android 14, and it is available only on RCS chats. As a result, you will only be able to experience this new feature on Android 14 devices. You’ll also need an Ultra HDR image, which you can easily capture on the Pixel 8 series.
Ultra HDR is a new image format that is the standard JPEG format with HDR metadata. Since Ultra HDR builds on top of JPEG, non-HDR displays can continue to show the standard image, while HDR displays can take advantage of the HDR metadata to boost the colors and contrast of the image. You get darker shadows and brighter highlights and an overall richer photo.

It’s important to note that not all Qi2 chargers will be magnetic. Instead, there will be two types of Qi2 chargers - one of them will feature Apple’s Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), maxing out at 15W (that’s the MagSafe one). The second type of Qi2 chargers, based on “Extended Power Profile” (EPP) won’t support MagSafe but you’ll be gaining double the charging speeds, at 30W.

Google regularly updates the UI of its apps, so they align with the latest Material Design guidelines and look like a part of the family. Drive gets its fair share of updates, with recent improvements focused around making the web UI easier to navigate if you love organizing items in folders. On larger tablets, you may notice the Drive app for Android now shows saved files alongside their file size in a dense list view instead of the thumbnail view, which didn’t really help documents. Lest we forget, Material Design 3 principles are also implemented.
