When I look at pictures of the great pyramids in Egypt all I can think about is the tremendous amount of slave labor that would have been required to build those things (the pyramids were originally covered in white *polished!* limestone so it would glimmer in the sunlight). More than half the population would have been slaves to these crazy rulers who thought they were gods on earth. What the world doesn’t realize today is that when 90%+ of the global population is in debt up to their eyeballs with no glimmer of hope to ever pay off their rolling and ever increasing debts, we are living in a very similar situation. One difference between then and now is at least the Egyptian knew they were slaves.

I often wonder what future civilizations will think about things like the Great Wall and how they’d rationalize why it exists and what purpose it served.
