Indie game developer (like that movie). Maker of Quest of Dungeons, Vizati and other weird games.

I find it so unsettling to see these numbers on Unity terrain properties you have no idea.

play stupid games win stupid prizes.

some of my software lifetime license key purchases I did several years ago (usually more expensive) are starting to pay off since most stuff moving to subscriptions or 4-5x time more expensive. Was just recommending a software to a friend, I paied 19€ in 2016, it now costs 99€ + 19/year for updates. Luckily either many companies honour the free updates or Windows is stable enough with retro-compatibility.

"Why does the Live++ video feature Quake? Isn't that quite old?"

Good question!

It's a showcase to convey the fact that your C/C++ code doesn't have to be written with Live++ in mind.

Quake is 27 years old by now, Live++ wasn't around back then.

No matter what the TOS says, very few users are going to upload only things to which they are the sole copyright holder. Unless they have a way to know, they're still going to have issues.

nostr:npub1vy4nt3jra0lhltwv9ry4tvvrdt4ngtg6x0srga7ec3t0pk7dhkjsenlm89 I guess most are already doing that so they might just be able to dilute the amount of stuff with no license 🤷‍♂️

nostr:npub128v74jmnzvqwkns6nwkh8hcynmep7t6mzsdkumw5tgy7dqut0xnsp8se2s yes, but I guess majority of users won't do it

I think this is how AI companies will start getting our data for “feeding AI”, by providing cheaper cloud storage alternatives. Not that existing ones won’t probably do it, but I’d be a bit worried about new entries to the space with “too good of a deal”

I mean, just less then 1-2 year ago, who would have guessed that we'd have to mostly leave Twitter? It seemed like a sure thing.

on one hand it's like "surely google will never kill email or this and that" well yeah most of the services never feel that way until it is axing time.

33% is quite a bump, I feel like in the long run this will only drive more players to PC only, probably on the next gen, especially considering there are things like Steam Deck now and multiplayer gameplay is free outside consoles.

Japan kept an entire train station + 1 train operating for 3 more years for 1 single student once they learned student depended on the train to get to school from a remote location
