I do it too. But it’s not good UX and it’s not what other platforms do, and therefore it makes that part of nostr feel broken for most people.
Dear app and media-hosting devs dealing with video content:
Standard practice and advice everywhere except nostr is to edit and upload at as high quality as possible BECAUSE those platforms/services will the compress it and you’ll lose some quality. It’s counterintuitive to ask users/artists to compress their videos first before uploading.
Nostr will never grow without artists/creators, and this thread is a prime example of how to lose artists/creators who WANT to use nostr.
