a casualty of the normalization of KYC

Luke Palmer, at Monerotopia23, a little after the 13 minute mark starts talking about Nostr and how to implement Monero for zaps. I have heard of other ecosystems implementations using Nostr (mostly Monero and Minds) But I'm sure we will see other ecosystems end up here. I don't really mind, I think the biggest community here will be Bitcoin. The only thing that can ruin that is a well-funded a16z coin. Any other community that joins nostr will just be making nostr (Bitcoin's platform) bigger, even if that particular community isn't a Bitcoiners community.
Note: At one point he refers to a "Lightning improvement proposal" I guess the phrase would be either a NIP or a BOLT. Probably a NIP, that doesn't sound like a problem with the Lightning network in general.
I have donated to a bounty to add monero zaps to nostr
monero zaps could actually be done is a noncustodial p2p way
also adoption. it is credible that this sort of social media could drive bitcoin or monero adoption.
i woukd personally prefer it was monero.
because foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of a small mind
afaik
they could go after relay operators since they store the nostr "notes"
but since anyone can run a relay....
a lot like btc or xmr node infrastructure i suppose
i buy pemmican bars from eataupa.com with it
Yeah, its source viewable. Their CC license just restricts commercial development.
I guess mostly it just causes a lot of problems vs updating without Google Play.
You can still run it and host it yourself.
And if you're good with Google Play you will still get updates.
They have a restricted "source viewable" license that prohibits commercial development.
Which is much better than closed source but not FOSS and causes some problems.
This part is nonFoss
As such there app can't be hosted on FDroid.
This is "source viewable." Not FOSS.

hey Standard Notes users
they changed the license to a CC nonFOSS a few weeks ago.
No more updates possible from FDroid
total bummer. I liked that app (and sent them some monero)
it's like that with every new protcol.
it takes years for the incentive structure to get established and work itself out.
not to shit in the punch bowl but 90% of current development will stall and wither away.
its still cool right now. y'all have LN too and things seem promising.
remember "the Internet" is a decentralized protocol too. it was going to usher in a new modern Renaissance of information.
instead we got ISPs, social media and psyops.
its behooves us all to be skeptical and very careful. positivity is good but assuming victory is how we end up losing.
makes sense to me.
the question is more about a race to the bottom to provide features to nostr users
and the resultant centralization and erosion of censorship resistance
i would like to see an reasonable economic incentive for individuals to operated relays
kinda doubt LN integration is enough but we'll see
son
anyone who i need private comms with has my PGP key and knows how to use it
i wish encryption was the default too but am realistic
