Giving nuggets of life hacks, pearls of wisdom, lessons learned and a few sats here and there.

Give the devs some time. The apps will mature. We are kinda in Beta but the demand for an uncensored app was so big that it kinda went viral anyway.

News from #Strike in case you have not seen the email.

We’re reaching out to inform you that Strike is temporarily disabling card and direct deposits. Bank deposits and withdrawals remain fully operational and work as intended, and you can continue to buy bitcoin with a linked bank account.

Please instruct your payroll provider to deposit your paychecks to an alternative bank account to prevent any potential delays in receiving your future paychecks.

As we recently announced, we are in the process of moving to new card network partners as part of our overall transition to our own infrastructure, which is causing temporary interruptions in card and direct deposits.

We apologize for the disruption and appreciate your patience as we make these changes to better serve you in the long-term.

We will update you as soon as we resume card and direct deposits. If you have any questions or need assistance, our dedicated support team is ready to help.

1) This situation indeed seems problematic from a security perspective. In general, it's against the security policies of most airlines, as well as international aviation regulations, to allow a checked bag to fly on a plane without the passenger who checked it. This rule was implemented primarily to prevent the potential risk of someone checking a bag with a dangerous item and then not getting on the flight. However, there can be some exceptions, such as when a passenger is on a connecting flight and their bags are checked through to the final destination, or when a passenger becomes ill and cannot board the flight.

2) As for compensation, it would largely depend on the specific airline's policies and the circumstances around why the flight left early. If the airline was clearly at fault (e.g., the flight left well ahead of the scheduled departure time and there was no communication to passengers about this), you might be able to make a case for compensation. However, you would need to contact the airline directly, file a complaint, and provide as much evidence as possible.

Remember to check the terms and conditions or the contract of carriage of the airline your son was flying with. Most airlines have a 'Contract of Carriage' available online which will detail their liabilities and responsibilities in situations like this.

In both cases, the most important first step is to contact the airline directly and explain the situation. They should be able to provide some clarity about what happened and how they plan to resolve it. In the meantime, you might also want to file a complaint with the appropriate aviation authority, such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or the Department of Transportation (DOT) in the United States, or the corresponding agency in other countries.

Regarding the other people left behind, it seems that there might have been a significant operational error if multiple people were left behind and the flight left early. Each person should separately file a complaint and ask for compensation. The strength of the claim may increase if there is clear evidence that multiple passengers experienced the same issue.

Thank you. I knew this community was large and diverse enough that someone could respond intelligently. I appreciate it.

Dumb question.

My sons flight left EARLY. His bags were on the plane and the plane left while he was in the TSA line. The flight departed about 20 minutes early.

My son rented a car and is driving 12hrs home.

Two questions:

1) Isn’t this a so-called security violation to take bags and not the passenger?

2) Can we get the airline to reimburse the cost of the rental and gas?

He was traveling with 4 other people. They all were left behind. We confirmed with the airline that the bags were on the flight.

Yup. And confiscation of whatever they decide you can’t have too.

Is it just me or is #mempool.space down right now?

All the more reason to get my Embassy #Start9 server running with a local mempool. But I’m still installing Electrs.

Calvin has always been my hero!

Eh, maybe but fiat typically loses value. Deflation is rare in an economy with fractional reserve banking.

When #bitcoin dropped from 60k to 35k I wouldn’t say that the US dollar gained value.

My son's homemade zapper.

Sometimes any advertising is good advertising. They are helping bitcoin to be generally accepted. It’s a good thing for us.

I figured he was on payroll for Blackrock if Gary approved their SEC filing. I just didn’t think it would be so blantent.

https://mempool.space is a wealth of knowledge for those who want to learn how transactions work on the #bitcoin blockchain.

I’m just scratching the surface of the topic and all I can say is , “Wow! This is cool stuff.”

Amazon can shut your home automation down for a simple misunderstanding with the UPS driver. They can also share you information. Don't let that happen to you.

I use #Hubitat. It's 100% local. IT DOES NOT NEED INTERNET.

It supports WiFi, Z-wave and Zigbee protocols and has drivers for THOUSANDS of devices.

I've been using mine for well over 5 years. It's extremely reliable.

I'm not a rep for them. I just know this crowd is a lot like me and likes things that gives us more self sufficiency.

I made some updates to a section of my Bublup page adding some additional resources and wanted to share with the crowd. You can visit the page at https://invite.bublup.com/j_eXPUxqfsUm

Here's the details:

Methods to obtain #btc

Non-KYC

Sell a product or service and accept bitcoin.

Get a visa rewards card that gives bitcoin as “cash back”

Get the visa “Fold” prepaid debit card. You can use my referral code if you want. https://use.foldapp.com/r/FAJTT3JP

Listen to your podcasts using the Fountain app. It earns a small amount of bitcoin when listening on certain, random days. It does NOT give you sats every day.

You can use my referral code if you want.

https://fountain.fm/darin?code=30d1cbd328

Peer to peer using hodlhodl.com

You can use my referral code if you want.

https://hodlhodl.com/join/DCD7U

KYC (Know Your Customer)

Buy bitcoin at a KYC exchange

Buy bitcoin for IRA. ( you can even own Bitcoin in a ROTH IRA and have it in a cold wallet)

I use Choiceapp.io by Kingdom Trust.

You can use my referral code if you want.

https://use.choiceapp.io/hlqy931

I know...I know... not your keys, not your wallet right? We've all seen corrupt and over-leveraged companies fail and customers are left with nothing or pennies on the dollar. Well, I'm using https://www.choiceapp.io/. They allow you to move your bitcoin to a COLD WALLET. They have great support too!

A common strategy is to allocate $xxx/month to Strike. Strike is a bank that puts it right into bitcoin. When the pot builds up a bit, transfer it to your wallet.

You can use my referral code if you want.

Be certain to track your KYC purchases for the tax consequences.

For those of you dealing with serious amounts of money - I know that's subjective, I'd recommend you have a tax attorney and CPA. Preferably an office that has both. They can save you much more than their fees. I enjoy listening to Mark Kohler and Mat Sorensen. They have two podcasts. 1) Main Street Business. 2) Directed IRA Podcast. They are #bitcoin fans and discuss how to track your earnings and losses.

Here is an interesting P2P provider for those who want to buy #bitcoin peer to peer instead of an exchange. I haven't used it yet, so I can't speak to it, but it has an interesting model and you can read review of sellers/buyers before purchase.

Here's my referral link if interested. https://hodlhodl.com/join/DCD7U

Yeah, but do the math and reevaluate.

If it goes up more now over the next X years, is it more or less than your potential contributions and a delayed price pump?

Put different scenarios in a spreadsheet before kicking yourself.

Otherwise keep DCA and ignore the price. The price is a distraction.

My new #Start9 Embassy's #Bitcoin node is fully synced. It took 7 days just like the directions said. Now on to configuration and learning. If anyone has any good tutorials they can point me to, let me know. Thanks
