Set up medical ID on the iPhone.

I must be the last person on earth to learn about this, but in case I’m not, check this out.

The iPhone has a feature called “Medical ID”.

If you fill it out on your phone it offers two things:

1. Without unlocking your phone, information to first responders can be accessed if you are unable to speak (allergies, medications, etc).

2. Access to your emergency contact

An additional benefit is if you lose your phone, it allows the person who finds your phone to contact your emergency contact(s).

1. Open the health app

2. Click your profile icon in the top right

3. Click “Medical ID”

4. Click “Edit”

5. Fill in “Emergency Contacts”

6. Enable “Show When Locked”

7. Fill in your medical information and click done.

Because I am a “trust-but-verify” kind of guy, I did some additional testing myself just to make sure that critical information is not accessible should I lose my phone.

My date of birth is not accessible (only my age)

My other contacts are not accessible (only my emergency contact, such as my wife).

I hope this is never needed but, how did I miss this?

I’m a fan of flat sales taxes but it will never happen.

The smart wealthy will put their money in assets during the transition.

I got some donated clippings a few weeks ago. I put them in brand new seedling soil and clean trays.

I suppose the clippings had bugs in them when I got them.

Good leadership looks at themselves when mistakes are made.

* Developers, technicians, boots on the ground make mistakes. Mistakes leads to learning and learning leads to growth.

* Managers are there to implement processes to catch those mistakes.

* CTOs are there to make sure that “enough” testing is performed.

So when a mistake is made, a good leader’s first step is to reevaluate a process to see if a change needs to be made.

What to do with sweet potatoes cuttings?

A kind and thoughtful person took some sweet potato clippings (not sure if that’s the right term) into the local VA in a bucket of water with a free sign.

So I took a few and left a bunch. They were quite wilted. The water had a foul odor.

As you can see I brought the home, pruned the and put the in a tray of soil temporarily to nurse them back to health.

After three weeks, they are outgrowing the space. They seem to grow an inch a day. I do have an outdoor garden.

Questions:

I live in the Midwest. Is it too late to harvest sweet potatoes from these?

Are sweet potatoes perennial?

If not, is it possible to keep some sort of “starters” alive to next year?

What would you do?

I’ve never grown potatoes.

Here’s my Apple butter recipe. I took the best parts of other recipes and combined them.

Apple Butter

2 lbs MacIntosh apples, cored and cut into 2-inch chunks

2 lbs Fuji apples, cored and cut onto 2-inch chunks

1 cup apple cider

1 cup Calvados or Applejack (Can substitute apple cider)

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons juice from lemon or real lemon with rind

1/4 teaspoon table salt

1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon allspice

Where are you located?

I make apple butter. Maybe pear butter?

Canned another batch of tomatoes today.
