#nostr pro tip:

Mess around with toggling replies and reposts on and off. It transforms your feed. Not necessarily for better or worse, just a different look and feel within a given client.

#nostrudel makes this really easy with toggles right at the top of the screen above your feed

I'd like to see a client-side option to delete the 'like' button from all posts I view and create.

The whole concept is ambiguous and useless for ME. Do you like the content of my post or the fact that I posted it?

For example, I could post a story about kitten torture. Kitten torture is awful. Person A likes the post. Do they like kitten torture? Do they like the fact that I posted the story? Do they like both? Do they like something mentioned in the story, such as the fact that the perpetrator was punished? Do they like that they weren't punished and got away with it?

I have no idea. The data (a like) is totally useless to me.

#Amethyst at least let's people choose an emoji other than a heart, but it's still largely ambiguous and unhelpful to me.

A zap, on the other hand, is unambiguous. Someone sent me a specific amount of value for my post. I know that they got a specific amount of value from my post, even if it still isn't clear what they actually valued. I have something tangible rather than an emoji that could mean anything.

It costs nothing to press a heart button. It costs something to press a zap button. A zap is real, specifc data on how much others value what I'm posting.

People paying money for your novel, for example, is a much more valuable signal than your friends and social circle telling you it was good after reading the free copy you gave them.

I believe the same is true for the content you share with people in your social circle. Will they zap you real value (which shows how much they actually value it), or will they only tap a meaningless heart as a free pat on the back?

I've moved to hitting the zap button instead of like buttons, and want to just turn off the like button. If I don't actually find zap worthy value, I do nothing and move on.

#Onlyzaps on Damus is the only one I'm aware of

The more I think about this the better it gets

See a repost. Give a repost.

Ok maybe not that one

i installed the app to see what's what. all identities in my neighborhood are listed. there's even a map view with icons over houses. it's gross

I don't think purplepag.es is for writing to is it? I don't use any of these relays either though. I'll mess around on my end too

Hm. I'd be curious how other clients like #nostrudel handle this -- curious if you end up trying others.

Do you know where njump gets the profile from? When I look up my npub it's very outdated

Whoa. Turning off reposts is a very different nostr experience. Might toggle this one from time to time.
