It’s so cool to get your hands dirty so to speak. Try the different apps. How quick to refresh? Is auto correct painful? Do DMs show up? Why? Why not?

Indeed it’s probably the best example of a genuine free market in my lifetime. Moving fast. Trial and error. No market intervention per say. I love it.

Plus it feels more human. Oh look, they’re having an interesting conversation, I’ll go hang out and chime in if I have something to add. Which itself only adds to the energy of innovation

I do wonder though: without an obvious business model with immediate monetisation, how do they survive?

Not sure sending central bank funded media a letter is worth any energy at all, but good effort in any case

Guys great episode. Thanks for sharing

Couple of thoughts:

- nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 loved the “Derekisms”. Fave was “enraged & engaged”. Plus, the idea the purple pill is the entry to the orange pill. I wonder, what’s the best way to make that happen? Making nostr-only content that is then easily shared by users? Therefore enticing others to join?

- I went to save the episode to my Spotify episode lists to listen to, which is a habit I’ve crated, for working through all content I am researching. I stopped myself, “use Nostr jake”, and came back to Nostr with nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg and bookmarked it. The video played great & I enjoyed it. Is there a video focused client that could be used to save, create playlists, discover etc, podcast content like this?

- I love the idea of releasing all content on Nostr a day early. Any kind of advantage such as that to differentiate its importance is cool. Did you come up with any others? Going Nostr-only is a cool concept, but you immediately walk away from all the eyeballs on legacy platforms

Nice. Was looking at Nostr.build today

I like the idea of a Nostr native back-end, so getting rid of Spotify for podcasters etc, and having ones rss feeds hosted in a more sovereign manner

Having read a lot of Bitcoin books, each one giving a particular insight from each author

What I particularly liked about nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a Broken Money was the explanation of early forms of credit

Ie I give you something of value, if we were in a high trust tribe, then I would be happy noting down that you owe me something in the future, & storing that debt in my head. Ofc this doesn’t scale. But it pre-dates money in a sense.

Point being, I absolutely agree there will be a credit market on a bitcoin standard, it will however be radically different today, in large part due to the cost of capital being much higher, therefore debt risk much higher, so interest rates will have to reflect that

Fascinating one to watch play out

Just out of interest, where did you host this video?

I’ll have a listen for sure. Keen to learn what a nostr-first podcast actually looks like?

Said just yet another person who has not seriously asked “what is money” & therefore does not understood that we’ve had a problem, right at the heart of how we trade, since the dawn of time, that has now been solved. A true game changer technology.

I’d love to see a Nostr native equivalent to Spotify for podcasters (what was anchor)

In case some inspiration is needed!

From the very short clip I saw it was a “Crypto burger”

He’s still got some learning to do I think

But yes. lol. Now I also have to go to that bar someday

The rate cuts etc were priced in. A presidential candidate visiting nostr:npub1key55ax33gkl50uqemvl4khrtqrhzm7wzpc7fhseutt5ddkcwcrqgxlt3h lobbing around hamburgers was not…

HODL on tight these next few months!

This is the power of open source…

Each person sees a problem they want to solve, should they go and build it, the whole network benefits

Long-term it’s unstoppable

Love it

To nostr:npub1jmy8weweqzckna0amz7pn0uhhkxx693l7st23829ewmu43yvjsesfp6xcq point re “social capital”

I believe capital comes in many forms, the 3 major areas being

- financial

- skill

- relationship (social)

Investing into a Nostr account with your time, energy, and money, has the potential to have an roi in all 3

- financial - you can sell products and services to an audience that you build

- skill - by focusing your attention on Nostr it’s inevitable that you develop a new skill set (& given we’re so early it’ll be relatively rare globally)

- relationship - given one is able to interact in public digitally and in a trusted manner, as you only have access to the nsec, as discuss, there’s huge scope to build fruitful friendships (think “play long-term games with long-term people)

As always lots to think through! But from a capital creation perspective, we’re only just scratching the surface of what it means to own your identity, data and audience online

I am thinking through the idea that The nsec (or very well put “secret” as you say) is property itself. It’s a key to the audience, or reach, or attention, that has been built over time, by the owner.

You own it until you give it away, sell it, or are hacked & have it stolen. But critically it’s not possible to debase it ok the back-end (you can’t be cancelled)

I believe there will be a flourishing market for nsec re-sales in the futur, as ofc the need to communicate with certain engaged sub-groups of people will exist

Critically, unlike when buying an IG account etc, the new owner wil know that they can not have it taken away. Similar to an email address, but given how the Nostr app ecosystem is developing, 10x more valuable (eg you can’t send btc via email)

Very happy to be proven wrong. But really enjoying where this thought process is taking me

For those of you that have read De Soto’s “The Mystery of Capital”

Today I found myself thinking about capital creation with content

It struck me how important Nostr is as a new technology, playing field, map, to adventure into

De Soto shows so well how private property rights are crucial to capital creation

He highlights the need for defined, accessible, and policed private property jurisdictions

His native Peru vs the US real estate markets are his comparison tools, which I really like

Essentially ex-communist and developing nations struggle to create capital due to poor management of private property rights

What if the same could be applied to traditional content platforms? I think it can…

Imagine building a shopping mall in a country that changes government, alters regulations, & steals your property

Capital erosion

The same can be applied to building a YT channel, IG account, or X following. You can get banned at any time for “abusing community guidelines”

Capital erosion

Point being, through the lens of De Soto, you need private property rights to be upheld to truly create, multiply, & preserve capital

Nostr is therefore the corner stone of a genuine digital capital creation strategy with content

What do you think?
