One thing I've come to appreciate about fiction writing is that it's as much problem solving as it is creativity.

Creativity is the spark of it. You start with a story idea. Vibes.

And then there's the basics. You have to put in your hours on reading fiction, and looking up tutorials on dialogue, exposition, structure, etc. Basically, spend a thousand hours reading things you like and reviewing all the mostly-right rules so that you can selectively break them when need be.

But the majority of the time actually spent on the craft, is problem solving. And as an engineer, that appeals to me. You have a series of scenes that need to happen for the story to occur, and have to figure out how to fill in the gaps to make one lead to another properly, i.e. mostly invisibly to the reader as though they're immersed and it's totally organic and really happened. And then you realize a plot hole with one of your scenes, and have to figure out how to tweak that scene or other scenes to fix the plot hole without creating more plot holes in a butterfly effect.

It clicks all the same fun challenge sensors that my brain has when it comes to engineering design or financial analysis.

There is no rule that says nostr must operate on a v4v basis.

The problems creators face is deplatforming and not owning the relationship to their audiences, and that’s what nostr solves or can solve with the right tools.

Yes, financial censorship happens but it’s much more rare than getting deplatformed (don’t quote me on that, an anecdotal opinion).

Creator didn’t mean making everything for free and wait and see who pays for it - that may work on a large scale if you’re famous and people know what to expect, but everyone else usually charges for the things they create. Nostr doesn’t need to “solve” this at all though it’s nice to have bitcoin payments as an option.

It was absurd. You guys had it really bad in Australia. I'm in UK, we got lucky comparatively speaking. After I saw how people reacted, I stayed quiet about telling people I didn't get vaxed. I'm more open about it now, as people are beginning to realise how much of a shit show it was. But I agree, people turn on you just like that. If we had another covid, would they be queuing up to get their jabs? I really like to think they've learned. But I suspect the same will happen again. 😣

Brazil has 21mil active x users. Assuming all 10k came from Brazil ( which I know its not) so only 0.04% of brazils x users have joined nostr. Very small.

People just don't know about nostr. As soon as a few big high profile celebs join nostr, that could change fast.

If Elon Musk or Pavil Durov really cared about free speech, they would have accounts on nostr, and be promoting it. I've not a heard a peep out of them. Yeah nostr will put them out of business but I though Elon said he doesn't care about money. 🤔

Nostr has accomplished everything the “web3/crypto” startups are allegedly doing.

It’s a decentralized, permission-less information/communication protocol, where users are the owners of their account and data, anyone can join or build on the network, and where its development and direction are shaped by a free market of features, data, and ideas.

But web3 doesn’t actually care about that stuff, that much. “Web3” founders co-opt the philosophy and convert it into buzzwords, in order to sell (dump) free-to-produce crypto tokens on retail investors make fast cash for their VC backers without even needing an MVP, and then move on to the next hype cycle.

Nostr fixed this. We don’t need a token because 1) this isn’t an affinity scam and 2) Bitcoin already works.

This is exactly why we will get a homegrown American fascist movement that will be outside and beyond republican lettuces-handed rightism, and it will become the most powerful political contingent to ever exisit.

The left will be begging for Trump in 8 years when they see what has been created from this.

And to be clear, fascism has ALWAYS been cultivated as an anti-socialism movement. That’s why it’s national socialism and not international socialism.
