Our journey from the first seeds to our own garden – learning to grow, slow down, and live healthier.

Autumn walk to a mountain hut.

On Friday evening, we went to the climbing wall to do some sport.

Finally, they built such a nice mini cottage.

I'm new here and I have a question. How do I set up the nodes on #Nostr correctly? So that I'm connected to everyone and it works quickly. Thank you.

This is how some mountain huts in #slovakia are still supplied today.

My friend has already processed his harvest. He grows and produces great fuel products from chili peppers. I like to support artisanal production.

In the autumn, we utilize the bounties that nature provides. I add honey from my beekeeper friend and preserved mushrooms to my pantry. These provisions are a welcome addition during the winter months.

This is how it looked until we built the platform.

In the spring, work began on constructing the farm building in the garden.

Thank You! See also my new post, where I write more about this.

Thank you for your interest in my previous post — I’m glad so many of you were curious about the drink I mentioned! So, let’s dive a bit deeper into it.

While watching this year’s Tour de France, I noticed that Tadej Pogačar always drank a cherry-colored drink after each stage. I got curious and started to look into what it was — turns out, it’s the ENERVIT MAGIC CHERRY drink.

What did I find out?

It’s made from an extract of the Vistula cherry variety. This cherry is naturally rich in polyphenols, which have strong antioxidant properties. These compounds help neutralize free radicals in the body produced after intense exercise, which in turn supports faster recovery.

Pretty impressive — but also pretty expensive! A single 9g portion costs around €5.60 here 🙃

My natural alternative: Aronia

That made me wonder — could there be a simpler, natural alternative?

Yes! You can actually grow your own source of polyphenols at home: aronia (also known as chokeberry). Its composition is very similar to that of the Vistula cherry, and it also contains an exceptionally high level of antioxidants.

Until I grow my own bushes, I’ve been buying organic aronia juice from my local health food store — and I’ve already tested it on myself during training and recovery.

The result? Great taste, easy digestion, and I really feel it helps with post-ride recovery.

If you’re looking for a natural way to boost recovery and overall health, give aronia juice a try. It’s one of those underrated superfoods that deserves a spot in every athlete’s kitchen.

Not far from here, the dam recently reached its lowest level in history, and I took this photo while wandering along the newly exposed shore.

I just planted my very first fruit bush!

Today I planted aronia (black chokeberry) in my garden. It’s my first fruit shrub ever, and I’m genuinely excited about it. What motivated me was a simple thought — why not grow my own ingredient for Pogačar’s “magic recovery drink”?

As a passionate cyclist, I often struggle to calm my body and mind in the evening after intense training. I’ve noticed that Tadej Pogačar always drinks a special sour cherry recovery drink after every Tour de France stage. That caught my attention, so I decided to look into it.

It turns out that the drink is made from an extract of tart cherries (specifically the Vistula variety), which are rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols — powerful antioxidants that help muscles recover faster and reduce inflammation after effort. This drink, for example Enervit Magic Cherry, is used by several professional cycling teams, including Pogacar’s.

What it does:

neutralizes free radicals produced during intense activity,

reduces muscle inflammation,

speeds up recovery and prepares the body for the next session.

And that’s where my aronia comes into the story. I found out that aronia berries contain similar compounds as tart cherries – a high amount of anthocyanins, polyphenols, and vitamins. So once my bush grows and starts bearing fruit, I’d like to make my own “recovery elixir” – a homemade, natural drink perfect after cycling, running, or hiking.

My plan:

I planted aronia – my very first fruit shrub in the garden,

I’ll let it grow and produce its first harvest,

and in a few years, I’ll be able to make my own recovery drink, similar to what the pros use,

but straight from my garden – no chemicals, no marketing, just nature and passion for training.
