In the late 80's into the early 90's, there were some jobs that came along with a divorce rate >80% within 3 years.
I've had 3 of those jobs in my 20's. Many in my field went on to try 2, 3 and even 4 times. For personal reasons I did not after the first 1.
This note was inspired by a comment on one of my notes earlier this week.

It's about 11am and just getting started with my morning SSS routine. So a late start to the day. Normally a day off, but today is an exception bc sometimes it's more then just a job. But only for a couple hours around the 3-6pm slots.
So I'm going to slow walk the day until then.

So yeah. Done scrolling old pics on 3 different phones to find a nostr user that I meant to follow but forgot.
It is 3am which is a late night for me. So peace out good people. I'll catch you in the am.

At some point (hopefully many more decades from this day), and no longer of this world, mini me will be the owner of this #Nostr key pair.
She will see that I've posted this picture and she will curse me for doing so. I will be in the next place laughing about it.
She was about 8 or 9 y/o when it was taken. I used to always watch her sleep. Yeah, I know, creepy.
I wasn't born yet so this must have been when they were in their late 20's early 30's.
My personal experience in personal & professional life is that the ones that talk the most are usually NOT the ones getting the most work done.
I mean unless of course speaking is your job. I.e. a "retired" politician gets paid 6 figures to "speak".
So, I just spent the last 4 hours going down the rabbit hole that is my camera feed on 3 different phones to find this one screenshot I was pretty sure I've taken but could find.

Meet Bear. He was about 3 y/o in this pic.
1989-1996. He peed like a girl dog. That used to erk me. But he is the only dog I've ever had that my mom was ok being around.
Meet Tiny. She was about 9 y/o in this pic.
1995-2006
So I forward the voice memo to mini me.
Mini me: Dad if you took 2 weeks to return my call, you'd better be in a coma or dead.
Me: noted.
It was my pop's birthday 2 weeks ago. He's an unreachable guy in a hard to get to place. But I made some calls and put the word out 'happy birthday pops".
Looks like last night he left a voice memo (2 weeks later). He got my message.
The man is now 80 y/o and spends his days doing what he used to do as a hobby on the weekends.
Growing food for his friends and neighbors, and caring for animals. He would be insulted if they offered to pay him for anything he's gifted them.

Yes, I've seen that first hand at the club I go to.
But not only that, a lot more parents are home schooling, more neighbors are growing their own food and going without TV programing.
These are all positive signs to be optimistic about. I think the COVID shut downs got folks off that hamster wheel long enough to clear their thinking.
Scrolling through my missed calls for the week during my morning coffee. There were some missed calls that will stay missed. But I was still (briefly) wondering why might they be calling.
And now I see it's likely bc of the BTC ETF histeria. I'm no expert, but likely also what is driving the price action.
High time preference conversations are the worst waste of my time. I'd sooner decide to paint the empire state building with a tooth brush then volunteer my time for those conversations.
