Your right I was thinking it was similar to peyote that's another mescaline containing one but it's much hardier. Either way the rain would kill it here before the frost. Not sure we even had one last winter it just rained continuously.
That's the counterintuitive thing they really don't like the wet, but can handle the cold well. We rarely get less than -5C on the rainy islands and these ones can handle about -10C..... so things are usually fine frost wise,
Yeah that's what I have always wondered too! They probably wouldn't believe or understand what is in there now!
Considering its usually at least a couple of buildings combined into one they would definitely be surprised to be cohabitating with their neighbours 😁.
When the council came round to drop off food waste bins they ended up with 3 because of the number of doors at the front 😆
Its depends on the circumstances, if I left them outside here over winter they wouldn't die from the cold but rather from being waterlogged from the wet winter we typically have here.... even in a sandy well drained soil.
The only time I see cacti outside in the U.K is when someone has them in a rain shadow under roof eaves, thatch or greenhouse .
Looking good been feeding my Peruvian torches some EM via a bokashi ferment and they have been responding really well.
Too much water and they can rot on you so its best to underwater them than over do it,
Some of the most expensive houses I garden at were quite literally peasant farmworker houses 😁

Hope you won't need to use it, but paprika is very effective for clotting severe bleeding. Wish you and all the people of your country a swift end to the hostility.
Nice to see the response I wrote didn't work... I am sure it was as witty and hilarious as I vaguely remember 😁
This is long but is well worth watching, the closer your ancestor are from Ireland more this obviously applies to you.... however he does cover #Europe in general as there are lots of migration waves that happen over a wide span of time in this video.
And like Stefan I do indeed spot some modern Neanderthal folk in our modern population here in #England....
Including looking in the mirror to some extent, certainly my my general lack of extroversion must be some kind of legacy of that 😆
Hope you enjoy learning from the oldest oral history in Europe and obviously check our part 2 if you enjoyed this
