Bitcoin maxi, self-doubter, child free by choicer, anonymist, knower of death, dying and disability, egalitarian, seeker of perspective, nature and physical fitness enthusiast, despiser of dogma, hater of vanity, and lifetime loyal partner.

The dangerous kind, the kind that’s actually real and that isn’t just for pretendsies.

Marcus Aurelius said that we should not get upset when we encounter idiots, as the world must contain those who lack intelligence as well.

Similarly, I don’t expect the entire world to understand #Bitcoin. I don’t care what happens with the Fiat price. I’m just glad bitcoin exists for me to put my money where my mouth is.

Similarly, I’d suggest you just be glad you found #Bitcoin. We don’t need to evangelize it or onboard anyone else. Bitcoin works great the way that it is. Let others figure it out for themselves or suffer whatever consequences may come from their decisions.

Stay humble. Stack sats.

#Bitcoin is the foundation upon which the decentralized world will be built.

By removing the need to trust central authorities in the transfer of value, you enable the individual to assign value to products, services, and opinions. Censorship becomes impossible.

While the rich will still enjoy a louder voice (meritocracy will be preserved), that voice will finally be finite once more. Unlike today (where an infinite money printer is at their disposal), they will not be able to control the entire world as they see fit, but will have to chose what has value and what doesn’t to them, just like the rest of us plebs.

Like many, I am only beginning to grasp the implications of this massive shift in social structure. A decentralized world, with truly diverse thought and a free exchange of ideas, will likely be unrecognizable to the the one that exists today.

I, for one, will continue to let my voice be heard via #bitcoin, #nostr, and #zaps. I will also continue to support those doing the work of building this world, like @fiatjaf and @jb55. I would encourage all others here to do so as well.

This is very much a real thing. The pandemic provided manufacturers (from cars to clothes to electronics) with the perfect excuse to cut corners and decrease the usable life of the products they sell. Lower useful life expectancy, higher replacement frequency, higher profits.

They blamed supply and labor shortages but I can all but guarantee you those had nothing to do with it, and costs or quality will never return to their previous levels ever again. It’s always just been about profit.

When 50 or so companies rule the worlds supply chains and manufacturing, this kind of thing is the inevitable result.

What’s needed is craftsmen, making quality things on a small scale, and sold on marketplaces outside the reach of the oligarchs.

A #nostr based marketplace would be sooo cool.

But why would you do that?

You know best but it sounds like greed and the Fiat mindset might be creeping in. Happens to the best of us at times.

Best to ignore Fiat price altogether and focus instead on #Bitcoin’s many other more interesting attributes.

As soon as one starts to wish for more Fiat, it’s best to go cash that reality check asap.

Whoever is most publicly in favor of #bitcoin or whoever is running against someone who vehemently opposes it. Single issue voter here.

The politicians in question will still be giant steaming piles of shit, and I know that they don’t actually want Bitcoin to succeed. However, since I can’t be 100% sure that voting does absolutely nothing, I might as well do it just for the hell of it. It doesn’t hurt to still try to make a difference.

Simply buying Bitcoin and keeping it in self custody remains the best way to shape the future though for us #plebs.

(Pretend this isn’t a day late lol.)

#Nostriches I’m 6 months sober today :)

I made the decision to try out sobriety cold-turkey at the beginning of 2023 and it’s been one of the best decisions I could’ve ever made.

I feel healthier in mind and body. I’ve experienced consistent clarity. And I’ve exercised a level of discipline that I’m proud of.

As someone who goes to music and tech events rather frequently, alcohol is unavoidable. It’s available at every turn. Bartenders are perplexed when I ask for virgin versions of whatever is on the happy hour menu. I get asked all kinds of inappropriate questions when I opt to drink water. Seltzer on ice with a slice of lime has since become my default mocktail of choice.

I never had a drinking problem or any issues with alcohol prior to making this decision. I solely decided to do it because I wanted to try something that I knew would be a bit of a challenge for me and that would require me to make conscious decisions to resist temptation. It’s summer, and as a former tequila enthusiast, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t crave a margarita every now and then. I told myself I’d give this at least a year though, so I’m sticking to my guns.

I’m looking forward to the next 6 months. And maybe the next 6, and the next 6 after that. Who knows—maybe I’ll never drink again.

Regardless of what the future holds, I’m grateful for this period of time.

Thank you to everyone who has respected my boundaries and shown any support on this journey.

What are some life changes you’ve made recently?

Congratulations!

I have similarly enjoyed random self inflicted periods of abstinence from alcohol. I have also never had a problem with it but I find it’s nevertheless worthwhile and helpful to switch up patterns of behavior at times.

My goal is to live consciously and as well as possible (not as long as possible), and while I know no amount of alcohol will extend my life, going without it at times does help confirm that I drink by choice when I do imbibe.

#Bitcoin is the mortal enemy of mega corporations.

Under absolutely no circumstances do Fiat based companies like Apple or Twitter want to see Bitcoin succeed.

The same way they don’t want people to think for themselves, a financially sovereign person with sound money at their disposal makes for a lousy consumer. They need people to be dumb and beholden to the Fiat standard to buy their disposable products and shifty censored social media content.

Sometimes it seems to get stuck but I’ve found if you retry, it almost always goes through.

#ZAP! :)

You know - that is something I hear a lot.

I think I understand why many people with kids say it; because they love their kids and those kids bring them a lot of happiness. It seems very counterintuitive and wrong that those kids could ever prevent them from feeling free.

And I’m not saying that those feelings aren’t warranted, just that maybe having kids could also play perfectly into the multifaceted and extremely sneaky systems of control that are set up by the Fiat debt slavery cartel.

I mean, kids do geographically restrict most people (think about school friends, proximity of extended family, etc), they cost a fortune in fiat (even more if you fall for all the consumerist fear mongering about them needing every toy, trinket, and fad imaginable), and they provide one of the greatest sources of distraction and “purpose” for those who care for them (I mean, unless you’re a monster, you’re gonna worry a lot about your kids right?). Less time, money, and mental and physical energy to overthrow your government seems to be the outcome for traditional, system compliant parents.

Now, you might say that kids provide the needed incentive to want a better future, and that this instills parents especially with a want and desire to protest those who enslave them, and I agree with this concept, but does it really happen? Parents often seem pretty broke, distracted, and tired instead. I confirm that it’s really not necessary to be a parent in order to want a better future for humanity or be possessed of the seething rage needed to overthrow the worlds governments either.

From where I stand as someone without kids and who never wanted them in the first place, I see children as providing the Fiat debt slavery cartel with a near perfect system of control for most.

They have the added benefit of providing the Fiat debt slavery cartel with generations of slaves. Slaves that parents (not slavers!) bear the cost and 18+ year duty of raising.

To me, on a planet with 8 (going on 11) billion people already, children seem wholly unnecessary and much more likely to limit your freedom than enhance it.

But what do I know, I’ve not got any. :)

Damus and Iris really need a way to sort the results of a search, ideally by amount of sats zapped for any given post. Other nice to have sorting options would be time since posted and total number of replies. Also - does anyone else have issues with losing their place when navigating from a particular note back to a search result? Is there an easy way to fix this? Thanks for your collective help!
