However this is a middle-step, the final version should have a more "continuous" thread style.

It looks good. I like the numbers.

I just wish that Gossip could reliably find the threads. Very often I click on on of @jacks' conversations and I cannot see the source. Is this a relay problem or a protocol problem?

GOSSIP has a few new things. Delegation (NIP-26) support was added (although shallow, it needs to be deeper still). And there are more Feeds. The feeds will change as we work out the proper UI/UX, but for the moment they mean this:

Main feed - the people you follow, top level posts only

Conversations - the people you follow, including their replies to other threads

Inbox - notes that are direct replies to your notes, or that mention you in the contents

Activity - all notes that tag you, even if you are not mentioned directly in the contents or they are not direct replies (including hell threads)

I know that's not obvious, which is why we are still designing.

Hey Mike, I was thinking it'd be nice to see a following feed with just top level messages (no replies). In some clients like Snort, this is the default feed type, and then there's a "with replies" feed also. Here's a branch where I added this setting (please excuse my noobishness with rust, I am attempting to learn enough to make my gossip dreams come true).

Gossip doesn't support chat yet, and if we need to talk about a bug that stops us from using gossip, we can't do that over gossip.

Maybe another chat-supporting client could be used.

Should I keep 2 APKs, with and without Google libraries? One would have auto translate and qr code scanning and goes to the PlayStore, the other one would not offer such features and goes to F-Droid.

Looks like a lot of work. But hopefully an Android buildscript mastermind knows how to structure such a thing in automated CIs.
