Dec meetup was a ₿it snowy
We are both Cleveland and Akron so its a midpoint for us. Wild eagle is one of the few places big enough both indoor and outdoor to house us. They are willing to give us a standing res every friday night and are actually happy to have us be there (as opposed to other venues just tolerating us at best).

The meetup organizers are there to guide and teach pleb slop literacy. How to recognize and think critically about the pleb slop. To build a local culture that is aware of pleb slop but can consume it for what it is rather than be psyoped, gaslit, and generally mislead or distracted by it.

As an example, one of our longest running members and most fervent of maxis first came to us as a Hex shitcoiner and owned no bitcoin. He didnt realize we were bitcoin maxis and just assumed crypto club. We took the time to hear him out, answer questions, actively stay in contact and nudge him in the right direction over time.
This might have been one of our bigger wins but we have made maxis of many. They dragged their ass out of bed which means they're willing to put in at least some proof of work.
Many bitcoiners will at times feel like they're better than the rest of the population (myself included) but thats why its important to stay humble. Even shitcoin maxis can be saved.

Over the years, we learned that your relationship with your venue is extremely important and often sets the tone for every event.
Wild Eagle gave us a ton of leeway to put up flags, signs, and our circular economy table. They gave us a standing reservation for the entire covered/heated outdoor patio and were genuinely excited for us to be there. Great communication and didnt shy away from being associated with bitcoin at all!

So we started the current group about 3+ years ago. Its kind of a long serendipitous story but the short version was nostr:nprofile1qqsgufllkhymhrxaqyc6meh05jw4d4qpk4pym87lnf37qax4y7c8zhqq95zex 's wife was sick of listening to him talk about Bitcoin so she found him a meetup group to go to. He messaged the telegram group thinking the next one was in a few days.

Well they ended up deciding to meet up anyways, not knowing what to expect. If it was just the two of them, so be it. They sent out a single tweet the day before and about 8 plebs showed up. Its felt like up only since then.
The key is consistency. Set a place and time and stick to it every time. People will often find you but only show up to their first meetup 6 months later. If you're not consistant on time and place, they might miss you when they're finally free and never end up going.
We also stay connected with a very active invite only discord. You have to attend at least one meetup IRL to get in and we have tons of channels covering many of the Bitcoin rabbit holes. Members consistently (daily) engaging with each other is how you build a strong community. All you gotta do is foster that.
Me either! But ive been to lake winnipesaukee and it's incredibly gorgeous. The lake is huge and crystal clear.
