I did opt for Electrs, in part due to resources, and in part due to it being Bitcoin-only. Electrum-Personal-Server was the other one that came up but I figured I'd want to be able to provided access to my wife and kid so that got ruled out quickly. Fulcrum did almost win me over so I could set up an Ashigaru Dojo, but I don't think either will play nice with the raspberry pi 4 anyway.
#Weather in New England: 'Go fuck yourself.'

Welcome. And love the name. Into Miyamoto, or does it have some other significance? If so, seems like nostr:nprofile1qyd8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnjv4kxz7tpvfkx2tn0wfnj7qgjwaehxw309ahx7um5wghxcafwddjj7qgnwaehxw309ac82unsd3jhqct89ejhxtcpr9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuun9vd4kcetnwvhxgetk9uq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwpexjmtpdshxuet59uq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxarj9e3xzmny9uq35amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wdpjhs6r90qhx7mnvd9hx2tcqyqfyuylp4rt67u6hfe3hvhg342tq52xlxwjd8flt946a3ttn0dx4jp37xgj might be right up your alley, especially if you're not sure what to make of Bitcoin (don't worry, his approach to it isn't really all that similar as the rest of ours all too often is).
Okay I should have read your interests first, because with the kenjutsu there, that's a big "yes" to my question. One of these days I've been wanting to pick up the practice; probably once I'm done being a hockey dad (16 months til graduation). I'm actually lucky enough to have a dojo in town.

I've been reading Bushido, by Inazo Nitobe ( https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/12096/pg12096-images.html ) and did take note of the fact that calligraphy was actually a focused skill that samurai would practice. Definitely something that I didn't necessarily expect, but it does make sense given the very holistic focus on aesthetics as something taken a bit more seriously than we ever really do in the modern world. Even when we do, it tends to be in service of marketing. Which would make any samurai consider committing seppuku over -- their disdain for money was such that it was considered a sign of good breeding for someone to not know the difference in value between different coins.
Been an interesting look into things as I wait to get a copy of The Bushido of Bitcoin, which I'm not letting myself buy before my birthday as I have the nasty habit of buying all my own best gift ideas.
I've personally played with homemade feather quills, as well as a steel-nibbed dip pen (which looks like it may be what you have there? Or perhaps fountain...). Beyond just the aesthetic differences, you also just process and think differently when writing that way. Gone are the 9 page diatribes and twitter telling me I should buy premium (lol gfy Elon) if i want to be so verbose. And in flows the distillation of concise thought.
Something which you may notice right here doesn't come the most naturally to me -- especially right after my morning matcha and MUD\WTR.
It forms an unlikely mindfulness practice which I can only assume has to be good for us, especially in counteracting the distraction saturated modern world we live in. tl;dr, cool practice, and keep it up!
I both agree, and also...have to wonder what looking at your income stream looks like when you price your life in sats. I guess it may be motivating to light a fire under yourself when you realize your pay is being sliced and diced like it's going through a woodchipper, particularly during a bull run, but c'mon, in a 20x year? At some point that fire's gotta burn a little.
I guess it may depend on the size of your existing stack. Definitely a change of mental perspective if nothing else. And I do think it'll become easier as our bull runs get a little less parabolic, but I'm not timing that occurrence; especially if the S-curve hypothesis plays out...
#GM. I was helping a young Zoomer yesterday with a lightning swap (for forward privacy) and while my hope for the future was already pretty low, holy crap the amount of handholding involved just about got me as depressed as ever. Especially because it really wasn't about intelligence, but rather focus.
When did it become so much to ask for someone to read more than 50 words? Do I blame TikTok? Maybe -- and while I was about to celebrate the banishment today, it occurs to me a moot point, as Reels and YouTube shorts exist anyway.
Parents, please, don't give your kids this toxic waste. Adults should get to make their free decisions, but seriously, you'd be less harmful to your kids giving them a few beers from time to time than letting them destroy their attention span with these constant short lived dopamine hits. The physical effects that crack has may not be there, but as far as the mental state goes, I can't imagine it's particularly distinguishable in the brain.
They worried about us growing up (I'm a mid-80s Millenial) with the impact of TV (for some of us, hours a day) and at this point looking back, with good reason. But TV to short form video social media is like comparing a little too much coffee to binge smoking crack on a daily basis. All the intelligence in the world can't stop you if you can't be bothered to take the time to focus on something to learn about it. Also -- it's alarmingly problematic when it comes to things like impulse control, which itself requires at least a LITTLE focus, to stop and think "is doing this actually a good idea?" before acting.
I'm not sure that forced reading is necessarily the way forward, but bribed reading may not be the worst option. If nothing else, screen detoxes, and just time spent doing activities that aren't a constant stream of distractions are a must. As someone who has a teenager who hates reading himself, I'm actually all ears to ideas -- so far hockey and skiing seem to be the best options (if only because the adrenaline overrides the need for constant dopamine).
#OldManYellsAtCloud
Indeed. Though the one thing I'd quibble with is the idea that the state would only release it if they knew they could control it. I think it entirely possible that as long as they could A) be one step ahead of their adversaries using it, and B) it solved a problem they had; ie, the impending collapse of fiat, they'd be okay with releasing it, in lieu of having anything they were better able to control that they believed would actually catch on.
It's always amusing when you get the crowd that eschews Bitcoin because they believe the government made it, and they're here to tell you about it on the Internet that was created by (D)ARPA, delivered to you by platforms such as Apple and Google, while talking to you about it on Facebook and Twitter.
Worth remembering that sometimes, when you fight a war, you end up in possession of enemy weapons systems. As long as you understand what you're working with, there's no good reason not to make use of it to achieve your own goals.
I agree with this. The TikTok ban is stupid and is a step in the wrong direction - one that will likely backfire and erode further rights. Anyone backing this regardless of the content should really consider what it is they are supporting.

Yes, AND it's also a great reminder that not your keys, not your account.
But I do agree that we don't combat rug pulls with forced censorship. We just provide alternatives that make that censorship impossible.
#GM, starting checking out MUD\WTR as a morning routine, seeing if there's anything to all these adaptogenic #mushrooms. Already been scaling back coffee to an ass needed basis (down to probably 7 cups a week, and not every day) as I address some blood pressure issues. Nice to see these chaps donate to #psychedelic research, so even if it's just a tasty drink that doesn't live up to hype, I'll feel good about it. #coffeechain

If nostr:nprofile1qqspcm9j9xtt42lfyx7dghytvgfm9k4sjmuguja9v7x585v45xrg25gym6chp is anything to go by, I'm looking forward to another brutal correction once we get ahead of ourselves. Especially after hearing nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7am0wsh8x6tpd4ehgu3wvdhk6tcpr9mhxue69uhhqun9d45h2mfwwpexjmtpdshxuet59uq3vamnwvaz7tmhda6zuum0we3xjapwdphhxap0qydhwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtn0w35x2unnw36kve3wveukjtcpz4mhxue69uhhwmm59enkjunfdehjummjvuhsz9nhwden5te0dehhxarjv4kxjar9wvhx7un89uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwd3hxzafwdejhgtcpzdmhxue69uhhwmm59e6hg7r09ehkuef0qqst0xtvrqlqxm0j0qpfgkuqh0wgkzl4judkvgdgd0e4d8pnyytlqlgvvc60j the other day and his analysis pertaining to the private debt cycle. Bitcoin adoption taking off or not, FIAT has 4 year cycles, and those aren't going anywhere this year. And price is always a ratio : both factors are important.

The irony of being able to just swap through Lightning to get around this issue...
Dumb motherfuckers.
#GM . #TIL that a bull's penis is called a 'pizzle.' You can't make this shit up because a 13 year old boy already did. Also, people make canes out of them.

It avoids capital gains, should get you a better interest rate, and you won't be replenishing the stack at higher prices later -- just paying down your loan valued in melting ice cubes with inflating money.
Probably better to borrow fiat collateralized by your BTC as long as car sellers are foolish enough to accept inferior money.
10 minute final settlement being 'slow' is the funniest failure to understand everything.
Ceasefire...maybe. Netanyahu just delayed. Not sure why it got reported given that they hadn't approved it yet. Looks like more of the same thing we've had since 2023.
It is nice seeing them rip themselves apart in Israel over it though. Trying to win a war when all you have is the IDF is doomed to fail. No Kissinger this time to make the backstabbing 'allies' do the heavy lifting.
Hezbollah ceasefire up soon. Tick tock.
But yes, Trump is at least avoiding any rhetoric around expanded aid, so a heck of a lot better than Biden on that front.
That was perhaps the messiest way I could share that gif. But use your imagination.
