Building Satellite https://satellite.earth 🏴

The full URL of your community includes your npub as the owner/admin. If someone else starts a podcasting community the URL will include their npub. So it will never be the same URL. If you navigate to https://satellite.earth/podcasting it will display a list of all the communities called “podcasting” that are owned by different people. If Satellite detects that you’re subscribed to one of the communities already, you’ll automatically be redirected there

*sorry I meant https://satellite.earth/n/podcasting 🤦‍♂️

Sure, I think it would make the most sense to just make a pull request into NIP-172. If you link the pull to me I’ll review it and leave my comments

Hi nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj is satellite still using 4549 as default kind for community messages?

I got a GitHub issue saying NIP doesn't talk about this 4549 kind.

https://github.com/vivganes/zapddit/issues/52

Not sure how to resolve this.

Actually I haven’t implemented it yet. I plan to make type 1 default, but with a checkbox on the new post editor like “hide this post from profile feed” to make 4549 optional

They're the nostr version of a subreddit

Aww shucks, that means a lot coming from you man!

Linux mint is a solid choice if you don't mind a few proprietary drivers

Japan tickets booked 🎉

Glad it's working for you! I feel like the current implementation is actually somewhat primitive — much more to come in this week's update!

Hey Stuart, sure.

This is the link generated from the original .mp4

https://cdn.satellite.earth/2754d7daa3c176a467e646bd0c779e85b85d8604ed1395e8e48412487ce4b5e1.3gp

I worked around it by uploading the video to Twitter first then downloaded it again from Twitter to upload it to Satellite and that worked as .mp4. As you can see it's much smaller after Twitter's reencoding and Satellite didn't change it to .3gp

Thanks! I’ll check it out
