Ubuntu?
seems like it 👀
Enjoy! I never thought I would be a Linux guy but you'll learn the command line fast if you stick with it.
There is a light learning curve , but only a slight one . Debian based Linux distros have come a long way .
what does Debian based mean?
The core of all the linux operating systems is called the linux kernel , and from that base , different projects , that use different software and so on have developed from that linux kernel .
Ubuntu runs on a "debian" based operating system , it's just a name that they give it to distinguish it from other "flavours" of linux .
I could be wrong on all of this btw .

Do it .... 🔥
one of us
ONE OF US
😂
Bare metal or VM?
what does that even mean man? 🤣
🤣 i recently leaned this so I thinks it means using software like VMware vs using hardware
going for dual-boot with Ubuntu and Windows on my laptop
gonna do all the dev stuff on Ubuntu
Great setup. Grub can help switch between
wat mean?
🤣
Grub is a program that can help you select the os you would like to boot.
Your computer would turn on, then present you with a screen to select windows or Ubuntu.
Likely first you have to partition space for each os, I have used a live Linux USB with gparted partition tool for that, then install grub.
I remember sometimes having trouble with it
huh, looks interesting 🤔💜
It means are you running this on an actual computer , or on a computer pretending to be another computer .
yeah, idea is to do it on my laptop, as. i don’t wanna mess around with my desktop yet, as that’s my “stable place”
You could run it on any other computer without affecting it by using "virtual machine" software . It runs the operating system inside of your own operating system but they don't affect each other . It's an emulator in other words , if you are familiar with that concept .
Probably not what you want though , partitioning your harddrive and doing dual boot will be way better , just make sure to give it enough memory for what you want to do , most people split the SSD / HDD in half .
🐧
I’ve never heard “learn a new code” described as such 🍒🤣
🤣🤣🤣
i’ll figure it out somehow
I've always liked, windowsfx or Linux mint, for transitioners, ,😎🤓
Mint is the way...
Anything BUT Ubuntu or RedHat is the way
Were you recently rescued from a anti-technology cult? 🤣
Too soon?
🤣🤣🤣
i am the “tech guy” among my friend group… says enough, eh? 😂
Linux mint is a solid choice if you don't mind a few proprietary drivers
