I am genuinely not frightened by the thought of AGI simply because we have no example to compare it to. All our thoughts on AGI being bad come from fictional stories. Anything else is speculation because no one truly knows.

I don't think we're as close to global human annihilation as some would suggest we are. I'm thinking far more aggressive mob behavior.

As a “fun” exercise, have you ever thought how an evil AGI would go about destroying every human on the planet to ensure not a single one can put up a fight? What would that look like? Does it worry about alerting us? What would “good” execution entail? Purely hypothetical, NOT asking for a friend 😆

I am patient and I try to explain it again and again, but my family, my friends, my coworkers, my wife... they don't understand bitcoin or nostr or why they matter.

They think it's cool that I built a thing that people like but they don't understand it.

My wife supports me. And for that I am grateful. But working on the cutting edge can be lonely. It can make you feel estranged. Crazy. Misunderstood.

I know I'm not alone.

Being part of #NostrHack was a powerful reminder of this. Connecting with other like-minded creators is edifying.

Let's support each other. Especially in small ways:

"Hey, this is great."

"I appreciate your work."

"Keep going!"

We have the flame. A small breath from outside can stoke it into an inferno.

I empathize with this so much. It's the Cassandra myth of being gifted with the power of prophecy but cursed that that no one would understand or believe you.

Zion is kinda interesting with their use of groups, but doesn't seem very fleshed out. Nostr + clients seem way more advanced despite being grass roots. But the more competition between protocols/clients the better 🤷‍♂️
