Exploring all paths to a bright, harmonious and prosperous future world ... "A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in." Ancient Greek Proverb

there are many that won't need this.

if you are like me and can never know enough ....

dive in

lest we forget - thanks to all those who contirbuted to our learning

https://www.benwehrman.com/nostr-guide/

its a bold move and smart ...

what's the end goal for Nostr.Build, Nostr and Bitcoin ? get the masses on board? peaceful transition? .....

i am sure it is being discussed in your team - how can KYC benefit you and the masses (your clients), more than the system?

perhaps IP policy that links to client database. if revealed compromises your product/service - ie "they" can't have it or only in restricted format

you have your clients' backs, in turn, they build into yours.

just sayin'

great comment and welcome to yr3

everything we build takes another us step in front. (even if it breaks), bear with me this will make sense ...

they are constantly playing catch up. it is expensive and hard work, first they have to find "it", work it out, before they even think of trying to take it down. if the thing they pursue is broken .... ouch! explain that expense to the boss.

with everyone taking those steps forward everyday, their system burns ever more resources. it won't be long before it hyperinflates and then they loose.

all the while you are out in front - building ...

boldly go y'all 👣

try again

this is a must see-must share video. its on you-tube (apologies).

Upon these grounds we are warranted freedom to go about lawful business without intervention:

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I am not a tech but I like a challenge. Start9 OS has definitely been that. Learning Command Line Interface (CLI) and trying to learn about Docker, Containers, et al. has been a steep learning curve. Still a long way to go. in the long run it hopefully pays off. pain now gain later.

You could go an an easier root and enlist the services of many of the great engineers here. this will let you focus on you and your goals.

You could also look at MyNode. easy set up and very comprehensive set of apps and integrations. If you get the $99 package they have a great support team.

Good luck

hi dion,

check out ben from nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 you tube. he has some great instructional stuff there on multiple systems.

good luck

used both. both will get you basic BTC Lightning nodes setup.

Umbrel, is a platform that sits on your operating system. it is easier to understand for non tech and has an extensive range of plug and play apps.

Start9 OS is definitely more tech oriented. It is an Operating System with some ready to go, plug and play apps but limited number compared to Umbrel. that said those with tech skills and knowledge of docker can load and run others, with reduced risk to system . accessing cli requires shh, which makes it much more hands on.

umbrel on linux is due a major update (assuming it hasn't happened). could be a game changer. mac win updates have already run I beleive.

If you run a blog, podcast or similar, Start9 offers platforms to do so out of the box. Haven't found these options on Umbrel.

Both are run on 2010 laptops (Umbrel on Linux) - and run faultlessly.

hope this helps.

ditto nostr:npub1maw9rza6ry4uysekjkrgg5vgghjkf2l6y9cvl0am9qz4r7cmcjsqvpcwdl give them both a go see best fit for you. good luck.

Kinda embarrassing (please ignore the bad drawing 😩). I must be a masochist cos I enjoy embarrassing myself on here, sharing bits of myself with you all 🤔. Feels scary but good.

I started drawing again - for fun - and i found some old stuff. Here’s an old film I made when I was at uni yeeears ago.

After months I scrapped the original idea cos I was so frustrated. I lost faith and passion because I kept getting conflicting feedback from my peers and tutors and felt that nobody understood what I was trying to do - my fault. I’m not the best at presenting. I so badly wanted to pull the idea out of my head and hold it in front of them, because they couldn’t see what I could. It made me doubt myself and I ended up scrapping the idea two/one weeks before the deadline and start from scratch.

I completely disappeared from the world, asked my then boyfriend for some space to work and became a ghost to my family. I sat down and decided to just draw how I felt instead of having an actual story. I really wanted to sleep and go outside - touch grass. It ended up paying off, they liked it (god knows why).

It made me realise that even though the people around you may have good intentions, they won’t always see things the way you do, or understand what you’re trying to do. You just have to trust the process, keep the passion, keep moving forwards, trust yourself and why you started doing what you’re doing in the first place.

Am I a pussy for posting this so early/late in the AM on a Sunday when I know hardly anyone will be online? Mayyyybe, but I still posted it 🫂

firstly - this is beautiful

secondly -

"You’ve got to sing like you don’t need the money

Love like you’ll never get hurt

You’ve got to dance like nobody’s watchin’ ..."

Lyrics, Susanna Clark and Richard Leigh - “Come from the Heart” 1987.

it all starts with one step. and look what happens 🙃

when it comes time - most do whatever they can to stay alive.

given this is the default survival mode, it is best to find a solution that most can adopt and manage.

you talk of bullies. remember the schoolyard bully - how many walked away in tears? how many avoided them at all costs?

making them use as many resources as possible is the smart thinking. make them have to look in as many places as possible. make them have to acquire passwords or other secure access from multiple locations or people, make the rewards for every effort worthless (ie more costly than the reward) ....

drain their resources trying to drain ours.
