Lurking, posting occasionally, and zapping anonymously. Observing always. Pulmonaut nostr-java is my hobby project.

I'd like to continue working on Iris & Nostr, but would need funding soon. Any grants available?

Iris is MIT licensed and will always remain free and open source. It's available for web, Android, iOS and desktop. Works just fine on the Tor Browser.

Iris design goals have been speed, reliability and ease of use. I want to work on these further. I want to add public and private custom feeds, including user lists, content filters and different ranking algorithms. We also need group chats and better DM privacy.

I want to add more p2p capability to clients. Syncing of events over WebRTC, local area network or even bluetooth. Iris already supports Webtorrent, but the interface needs improvement. I think we should actually have nostr:file urls for binary files and transmit them over relays or direct p2p.

I'll try to get Iris subscriptions done soon, but it will probably be some time until it's sustainable income.

There's so much cool stuff to be done that I don't want to go back to fiat mining 😄

I think subscriptions and client specific paid features are the most viable path forward.

Imagine if the QR code at the bottom right was actually a Bitcoin/lightning address instead of a link to an Instagram page (now closed, account terminated?, lol)

I woke up this morning to find out that Twitter had suspended my account. According to them, I broke their rules. Huh?

The reality is that I haven't really been active on Twitter lately because I was busy working on a project, and then, I found nostr and decided to follow that rabbit hole...

Oh well!

We are gradually phasing out the nostr-json library. Going forward, we will be using the Jackson API to handle all JSON encoding. This change not only increases efficiency but also improves code readability. The merge is expected to take place in the next couple of days, after which we'll create the first release. Finally! 😅

Also, the feeling of "no hope" that leads to suicide is not counteracted by a belief that there "is always hope". Trying to give people hope doesn't work. Their brains function well enough to know with some certaintly that whatever they desperately hope for can never be.

Rather, the cure to depression is the realization that hope is unnecessary because all situations are tolerable and magical and interesting regardless of how bad they are labelled to be.

In one word, acceptance, right? What about self-knowledge?

Also, it would be interesting to investigate what causes the lack of hope in the first place. If we find out, maybe we could be more proactive.

On a related note, I recently read that the common theory of "chemical imbalance" in the brain was disproven. Also, according to an article headline I have seen, physical exercise is a better cure for depression than the usual drugs.
