Farcaster is falling even though they have more money, a centralized marketing department, a founder that makes good speeches and a lot of visibility in the "crypto"-adjacent media -- so these things can't be the reason why we're losing to Bluesky.

I can't believe they make people pay $5 to get on there. It's funny cos it's meant to eliminate spam, but a lot of the posters there are just real people spamming scams disguised as posts.
Bluesky doesn't advertise to "crypto"-adjacent people, but to liberals who hate Elon and the "fascists". They are Twitter refugees who hate free speech. That's why they went to Bluesky, not to Nostr.

nostr would get ahead if we were less crypto adjacent. the nostr world youtube channel hashtags all the videos with #blockchain and #cryptocurrecy smh nothing about websockets

yup i am trying! i guess what im getting at is nostr's marketing puts it in the same category as farcaster and we should be better about standing out as the social media protocol that is not based on blockchain.

it's true. we aren't growing nearly as fast as Bluesky. that's no secret. however, we are a grassroots movement with sound goals and an incredible amount of passion. we may need to tweak some strategies from time to time, but we will succeed.

- OpenSats, HRF, jack & others have plenty of money, so in money: nostr > farcaster > bluesky
- nostr has no marketing team and no founders, so in decentralization: nostr > farcaster > bluesky
- but nostr also has good speeches with good visibility, i.e. btc 2024 the same place Trump spoke at, so in reach: nostr > farcaster > bluesky
so if those things would count nostr would be way far ahead

3 big reasons I can see for bsky's strength -
* CELEBRITY PRESENCE: the general public perceives deep-state-approved celebrity status as the highest social status available
* FEEDS: users are onboarded with better feed curation than any nostr app
* NO ASCIIDOC: bsky has never asked anyone to use asciidoc
