What do you think about an event kind for "read" that could be sent automatically whenever a user reads something? Probably not worth doing for notes, but for stuff like videos, podcast episodes, songs, articles, recipes etc that could be powerful material if a user wants some algorithm to detect what they see more and use that information to craft custom feeds on their behalf. nostr:npub1utx00neqgqln72j22kej3ux7803c2k986henvvha4thuwfkper4s7r50e8

I personally don't want that for myself, but of course it would be optional and clients and users could decide to not emit these things.

Or maybe there is some cryptographic magic that allows something like this to be achieved in some shape or form without revealing too much about ourselves? nostr:npub1vadcfln4ugt2h9ruwsuwu5vu5am4xaka7pw6m7axy79aqyhp6u5q9knuu7

That would remove Pokey's need to store it on local db 👀

I'd love to see the on/off config stored in the nip07 extension, per pubkey. Definitely not the one popup per page model.

🚩 🤔

I’d rather that signal just be a 1 sat ⚡️

Good idea but can’t force it, would have to be a client idea.

client thing*

Isn’t that just big social algorithms in ostrich clothing?

nostr is mostly publicly accessible. levels the playing field of data exploitation. in no way does nostr remove social algorithms

Economic signal > attention noise

any e tag reference can act as an indication of being read. hence the reason some damus (iphone?) users abused reactions as read receipts

Would this help to create some kind of feature know I have read and seen something, therefore know not to show it to me again on my regular feed (as a repost or quote for example)?

Advertisers will love it.

We're looking to build a media company to help grow other Bitcoin businesses using Nostr only. This sounds like a great idea.

yes

Seems useful

Only if NIP-44 encrypted to myself.
