I get this too right besides "you should behave your age"
People should rather ask themselves "why can a grown up man afford to play computer all day, every day? If he pleases to do so". Perhaps his stack is bigger than theirs?

lol i haven't heard "play computer" in a looooong time
and when i was, back in those days, most of the time i was programming, with whatever tools i could scrape together in the days when a C compiler cost a month's wages
"play computer games". my bad
nah, "play computer" was a literal common expression in the 80s and early 90s
i thought you typed that because you lived through it
back in those days, boys with commodore 64s and whatnot were mostly playing games but often also reading BASIC manuals and haxing their computers to do things
Why is it ok for billions of people to play games on their phones but not ok for grown men to play on their PC? What is the difference?
He could
But wouldn't he have better or more important things to do?
I would agree except that I seem to have grown out of video games in recent years too. Not because I don’t like them, but because I increasingly feel the progress to be empty and unrewarding. It costs so much time to have nothing real to show for it. I just know it’s not going anywhere. I’d rather work on something real.
I think most people say “grow up” because they think people are supposed to go to work and not have time for games. But as someone who used to game constantly, it also just seems much less meaningful after I found work that I actually liked to do.
So there could be two different sides to that coin maybe. 🤔
there also used to be a compelling story in great games such as half life, that has gone missing
