How are large relays handling the spam? Any issues?

primal handles it better than Damus

I don't really see much here after I blocked them and added a muted string on Amethyst.

how do i block them on my relay? Any hints?

Block their IP addresses?

sorry for that

This looks delicious 😋🤤

After muting the spam I saw today (still not that much compared to what I was just reporting on Twatter) I thought, I should've checked which relays they were on... Anyways, it is definitely encouraging me to look more into the paid relays options.

Maybe it would be cool if I could post to various relays and have filter options to see content on selected relays only + certain #s across all. I don't know. I'm sure it'll get worse and then better and then worse. I have hope there is a solution though 🤷‍♀️🤞💜

Paid relays are the way to go if you don't want spam.

I want to pay for two relays along with the one I’m running on relay.tools

Spam mitigation has always and will forever be a game of whack-a-mole.

Once nostr grows and attracts magnitudes more spam some form of paid relays might be a solution.

If you spam, you lose your sats.

On the app level, you can have WOT and pay for attention filters.

rug pullable

haven't seen any notable decrease in online relays, which is a huge improvement from the last attack. Round-trip times for websocket opens are roughly 10% higher though.

Dobyou know if there is a plug and play way tobset up a relay?

Im not tech to program but have mu Umbrel and would like to have a nostr relay.

There is one but only backs up my data.

Umbrel has a nostr relay, but it's intended as a local cache relay. If that works for you, just search the Umbrel App Store for "nostr"

Umbrel's app store has a very well designed and easy to use Nostr relay, however it's not a public relay, it's more of a local backup relay.

Yes. I already have that one. I would love to set up a public one tobsupport NOSTR.

But back tech skills

What do you think is the network’s max active user capacity today (without any new relays or update to current relay capacity)?

no clue, we dont have proof-of-compute. However, it appears number of relays has always increased with each batch of new users.

this is the double edged sword of “censorship resistance”

If you want one, you have to deal with the other.

There will be a variety of solutions, but this is probably the primary selling point for centralized walled gardens.
