I think we need to say goodbye to our believe that "Bitcoiners" are principled freedom lovers and supportive of others. Many are, but most are in for personal egoistic reasons only. The "never spend" BTC narrative is the most backward.

After spending 10 years thinking about Money & Bitcoin, here's the simplest explanation I can come up with:

Money is a technology to move Value across Space, Time, and Scale.

Value is the utility humans derive from Goods & Services.

Value is highly subjective, and it changes across Time and Space.

Unbeknownst to them, Economists have defined these functions as:

- Store of Value (Time)

- Medium of Exchange (Space)

- Unit of Account (Scale)

Throughout History, no monetary system has managed to satisfy all 3 functions of Money at once. This is where the idea of Backing Money and the necessity of separating Money and Currency come from.

This trade-off can be described as a Money Trilemma: you can optimize for 2, but not all 3.

Gold is great at Time & Scale, but not Space.

Fiat is great at Space & Scale, but not Time.

Until the invention of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the first form of Money that successfully excels at all 3 functions simultaneously.

It achieves that by perfecting all the properties of hashtag#Money, with no extra room for improvement:

PoW exists to make it hard to rewrite history, not to prevent spam.

...is not enough to make people pretend you're arguing in good faith here which you obviously aren't having opened with rewriting the entire function of what PoW does and how Satoshi used it. We know specifically what Satoshi did about spam and you're ignoring it because that would contradict your premise.

(Further - spam filtration does not imply centralization. The opposite is the case. No one is going to run nodes if they do not posses the tools to prevent their mempools filling up with porn/malware and anything else that can leverage the idiocy of Bitcoin's developers.)

Some people seem to want to argue that there is already CSAM in Bitcoin's blockchain. This is false. Bitcoin today does not support images at all - only arbitrary data up to 80 bytes (or 95 in the coinbase).

Exploits like "Inscriptions" work by _misinterpreting_ script code, and _bypassing_ existing policy rules. They are not actually storing images, but merely putting gibberish code on the chain, which they later themselves (not Bitcoin) _misinterpret_ as images.

This distinction is very real and relevant. If you don't differentiate between "data that can be misinterpreted to produce CSAM" and "data that correctly interpreted displays CSAM", then literally _all data_ is CSAM, with _no exceptions at all_. This tweet would be CSAM. Google's logo would be CSAM. Your phone's operating system would be CSAM. Literally anything _can_ be misinterpreted as CSAM.

Sadly people nearly universally end up with an information diet of “left evil we must destroy them to save our country” or “right evil we must destroy them to save our country” these days. Means political violence is trending up and people not often than not can’t see past their own shoes. Not sure what to do about it, either, it’s just sad.

Nobody is actually against Bitcoin having spam filters. Fees are just another filter, not fundamentally any different from any other filter. Even Core is adding _new_ filters: TRUC and ephemeral dust are two recent examples (mandatory in Core, and optional in Knots).

They're just against _you_ having a say in what filters you get to use. They want to dictate that you use the filters _they_ choose.

Instead of decentralized policy, they want a centralized policy.

(And they're not even choosing sane ones! Who in their right mind wants to relay CSAM???)

A bitcoiner is someone who

- measures his whole wealth in BTC

- war against fiat and KYC

- promotes self-custofy

- permanently studies it in an holistic manner (libertarian)

- rebel against the system

- supports open source / freedom tech

- think about it at least 6 times a day.

It's basically an activist that promotes Bitcoin as a movement, rather than just an investment or tech.

His BTC bags would probably be used to protect and make Bitcoin unstoppable.

We are probably a couple of thousands in the whole world.

The alternative is just being a regular BTC investor. Most people will fall in this category.
