Sadly people nearly universally end up with an information diet of “left evil we must destroy them to save our country” or “right evil we must destroy them to save our country” these days. Means political violence is trending up and people not often than not can’t see past their own shoes. Not sure what to do about it, either, it’s just sad.

Sadly with today’s internet landscape it’s really hard not to :(. But, yes.
Left and right are both on the same axis . Just gradient differences.
They both rely on a paternal state that enforces authority.
Ones want social freedom but economic control, others economic freedom but social intolerance.
The exit is up. Take another axis, the one of true freedom and self sovereign individuals.

I've come to believe "the algorithm" is a big cause of a lot of this. The algorithm sorts people into camps that get them riled up to fear and hate the other side.
Some of it is self-selection too on the part of individuals, but centralized social media isn't helping.
People are hurting and project their pain onto others.
It’s polarized in Germany too… few people take the time to listen to rational arguments or discuss calmly. Mostly rushing in to label/discredit. I gave up trying to talk about economic reform during the German elections.

Yep, exactly. Global economic malaise, high youth unemployment in nearly every country, and global inflation has created a ton of pain across the board.
Makes people way more willing to seek out an enemy to blame and left/right social media is very willing to give it to them.

Continue pushing for individual freedom and against government over reach. Let’s start by getting the patriot act scrapped. This should be a bi partisan issue for the honest players in this game.
