Agree. I honestly was so disappointed about the OS, that I shelved the Daylight.
I knew it wouldn't be GrapheneOS, but still I couldn't get myself to use it.
So I am looking forward to Sol:OS 1.0, however not so patiently ...
I haven't quite shelved it... It's still far superior to all my other options for long-reads on a device (which is basically all i want it for).
The Reader app has _some_ promise for note-taking and highlights - but it has a long way to go. namely, it keeps yours notes hostage and doesn't integrate well with anything else, including the filesystem. Once that app is a viable integration point for notes, this device will be a holy grail for me.
Yes Sol OS is required for privacy focused users
