After Lyn then maybe this one for the inevitable "how does it work then" question. I found this was the perfect amount of technicals simplifies without getting super technical.

Andreas Antonopoulos is way more accessible imo

Jesse's book is a good blend of the why and technicals of bitcoin in precise 1 page snippets. Gigi's is a good one for asking yourself questions you might not have thought about before.
