Oh fuck, I heard this “frugalism” as a thing for a first time but it’s my goal as well. One thing I made different was I took some loans and morgages to get there since it was cheaper and I still believe a faster than trying to save money in high inflation enviroment.
Taking loans for Bitcoins counts as speculative attack for me 🤞🏼
He said it himself, he doesn't want to have to think about money. He has his plan, it's working good enough, there is no way you will convince him to even speak the word bitcoin.
For him, frugality isn't about fairness or beating inflation, he never even mentioned it.
For him, it's about surviving without evolving. Budgeting is a skill he's learnt and he's good at it. Many bitcoiners are good at it too, but this is where it stops for him. He's done it, it worked, he has no ambition to improve it.
It's only when frugality is no longer enough, that he will look into anything else.
What I liked was the low time preference and anti-consumerism. Usually people don't even think about that (at least from my experience).

Yeah, but being frugal is always an intentional thing, you need to put effort into it and from watching just this video also, I get the strong sense that this guy will shut down anyone who tries to give him advice, especially if it sounds like not being frugal.
Bitcoin has connotations on the surface of being an investment, a gamble, a risky asset, and knocking all of those barriers down will be harder with this guy than others in my opinion (which is already hard). I think I've always been frugal, so being frugal is not the issue, it's the vibe I'm getting from this one guy.
