still have no idea who Swan are or what they do

They are basically a "bitcoin only" wrapper around some pretty shady liquidity providers (prev. Prime trust, now fortress trust, both scams)

Their heart is in the right place but this shortcut they took is putting a lot of people at risk

How is River different?

River runs their own infrastructure, they don't take shortcuts

I like Strike because they let you pay LN invoices with fiat, which gives you better privacy. I wish more companies let you do that

Yeah that's an amazing feature. I thought that was supposed to go in a lot of credit card machines for vendors

Agreed. They need to do what River did and build their own infrastructure. At least Swan promotes self-custody though.
